  1. I'm formerly from Centralia, Ill, and when I left in 1998, and moved out here, the pay was not very good. Alot of us Lpn's most of the time we would be on staff with one or more nurse agencies, and we planned our schedules that way, but take in mind that there are some draw backs working agencies! 1. Theres always cancellations @ the last moment, and if you need stability, and you go agency try to get on with one that provides the following: pays your rent, utilities, and your rate pay is @ least $20/hr. 2. If you are close to St Louis, Mo--You can make @ least $2-$5 more, by crossing the river! I was getting off work @ 3pm and driving to fairview heights, which was a hour and a half! If this helps, please let me know! I've been a Lpn since 1987, so you can reach me @ [email protected] Have a good day!
  2. Hi I would like to respond to working for an agency. My present job is working for an agency. Agencies are different now, for when I started working for them back in 87, they were more personable. I've worked alot for them, benefits have changed, etc. Out of my years, I've never have had to pay for cpr, but since moving here to NC I've had to pay dearly. Let take for an example the insurance policy that we presently have is 600 amonth for myself and 2 kids, and I've never have had to pay that either. But it all boils down to if the company that you're working for is just starting out or if they been in business for awhile. So investigate the company, and how many co's they may have, and how long their employees stay with them. Word of mouth from meeting other nurses is great, and most time very reliable. By this I mean say you're working @ a facility for an agency, usually there are other nurses their from agencies, and talk with them, and you'll find out alot. Looking forward to hearing from you all!!
