  1. I am going to OHSU. Reasons: Chemeketa classes all seem to start at 8am; I have kids that go to school in McMinnville--I would drive myself crazy trying to get to class. The OHSU Monmouth schedule is often later, and it is a shorter commute for me. I am also now a Ford Re-Start Scholar, and I have the ability to go for the BSN all at once, thanks to that. I am very glad to be accepted by my school! I will always have a soft spot for Chemeketa. They do things right, and have an excellent program. (Except for making us all wait until mid June to find out if we have a life!) Anyway, I am grateful for all my teachers and all my experiences at Chemeketa. Power to all you Chemeketa student nurses! You are great.
  2. I was accepted. Probably giving up my spot. . . . .Thinking more towards OHSU
  3. The final shoe has dropped. Chemeketa accepted me too. I guess I was waiting to get that bit of love from the school that showed me that I can still be successful. I will probably be letting that spot go, however. . . .I am pretty sure I am going to OHSU.
  4. OK, I am so out of it! Thank you. I am going to go soak my head.
  5. How are you guys finding this out???? I just called the program and was told by One Who Would Know that there have been no official emails yet. What is going on???????
  6. It is rather strange that Chemeketa has to take until June to decide, as they have all the score sheets done rather quickly after the essays. I know there is a chance to contest/verify score sheet details, but does it take that long? I wonder what else they do that takes a month to sort out? I thought it was all based on the score sheets. I think it is just to see how we respond to unnecessary stress.
  7. I am lost in all the Chemeketa forums threads. There are at least three! I have a 356, and besides wondering what the heck I did wrong on my essay, I am just waiting on tenterhooks like everyone else. I am hoping to find out more about the schedule during school like everyone else too.
  8. I am trying to get an idea of what time commitment will be. Someone said there are classes/clinicals every day--is that at a certain time every day, or is it different through the week? Are you talking one one- or two-hour long classes every day, or all day class every day? Are clinicals for a certain number of hours, or do they vary? Based on what? These details mean a lot to me because I will have to go there from 45-50 minutes away and all the way through several towns that complicate the drive. I also have three kids in school all on different schedules.
  9. Thanks in advance for everyone's insight.

  11. Long waitlists are simply the result of everyone applying/getting into several schools. Most successful applicants do, as the research shows. (Reference? Oops--can't remember, but I did see this somewhere) Anyway, if every successful applicant were to get accepted into/waitlisted into two schools, when the Chinese fire drill ends and the dust settles, waitlists as long as the total cohort sizes have been gobbled right up.
  12. You start the series ASAP, and finish as soon as possible. You have to show that you are finished by a certain date. Check with your program if you are not sure when that is. They are reasonable, but you have to get on it-you will be in clinicals before you know it!
  13. Missjordie, I got MMR, HepB #2, Tdap (EVIL!!!), and Varicella. I blame them all.. . . :[
  14. 358 Chemeketa points. I wish I could see how they scored my essay--what I lost two points on. One less thing to wait for, with this score in. Does anyone know how many people applied this year?
  15. Oops. Double posted. How did I do that?
  16. Four shots on Monday. Chills and fever all day yesterday. Feeling horrible today too, with large painful lumps at injection sites. Now I have something else to think about besides stressing over whether I will get accepted to Chemeketa.
  17. Thank you, Kvedaa! This insight helps a lot. K_dazzle, I will probably have to do the same. Wish my deductible was not so high!
  18. It is a perfect storm, missjordie. I was home schooled until high school, and by that time my mom was a huge anti-immunization advocate. My younger sibs didn't even get most of their shots, and I do not remember any records going to my school. Good idea, though--I will check tomorrow to see if they were able to pry anything out of my mom back in the '80s.
  19. Embarrassing problem: My immunization records are lost in the sands of time. My mother has no idea where they are, and I have never in my entire adult life had occasion to need them. Our health insurance runs out this Wednesday. Here I go, to the nurse's clinic for a royal skewering on Monday! 8( I wonder if nursing school would accept a note from my mom?. . . .LOL!
  20. I have really enjoyed my time at Chemeketa, too. It is a really supportive and practical school.
  21. You're quick, Missjordie. I have yet to get the hang of this forum--I keep forgetting that when you reply it gets tacked onto the end, and if you don't include the name you don't get through to your reply-ee. At least how I figured to do it. Maybe I am just dense. Anyway, I gather that OHSU/PDX has not chosen their cohort yet? What other OHSU locations have also not finalized? I was happy to hear from Monmouth so soon, but now I am waiting for Chemeketa and wondering whether to just accept OHSU's offer and get on with it. OHSU is such a nice school. It would be cheaper to go to Chemeketa, and I would be working sooner, but what if life happens and I never get my BSN done? It doesn't help my cogitations any that my husband just lost his job, and here I am contemplating entering a $45,000 program while we have no visible means of support. . . !
  22. alewis513, Which OHSU location did you apply to?
  23. Which OHSU location did you apply to?
  24. I have also been accepted to OHSU Monmouth. What a relief! I am waiting for Chemeketa's decision, but I am wondering what the best thing is to do. Go straight for the BSN, or save money by starting out at the community college and finishing at Linfield? What input do you all have?
