  1. I GOT A JOB!!!! I graduated in December and just accepted a job for a SICU position! I'm so beyond excited and totally terrified! I don't start for a couple of weeks and thought I would look in to resource books. I know there are many threads dedicated to this because I've looked through them, but most are much older. I was looking in to ICUfaqs.com and was wondering if people found this useful. I just printed a section from the site and it was published in 2004. Does anyone feel this source is out of date? I've read that The ICU Book is not great for beginners? Anymore thoughts on that? Thank you in advance and I'm stoked to start this brand new adventure!!!
  2. I'm in the same position as you! I'm a new grad and I just got hired on a SICU unit! I haven't started yet, but I'm trying to see what I can do in the interim, maybe look in to a great ICU book? I'm so extremely scared, but so very excited!! I hope things are going well for you!
  3. Hi there! I graduated nursing school in December '13 and I passed my NCLEX in early January. I have an ICU interview on Friday and I am so nervous. I never thought about working in the ICU because my ultimate goal is to be a nurse midwife. Anyway, I would totally accept the job if offered because I feel the ICU would be a great place to learn and be constantly challenged. This job interview (luckily) sorta just fell in to my lap, so I'm a bit lost. I have been scrolling through allnurses.com for helpful hints, but I thought I would see what more recent grads had to say! I would be so excited to get this job even though it deviates a little from my ultimate plan, but hey, I'm young and I have lots of time. :) Here are some questions I'm preparing for: Tell me about yourself? Why do I want to work in the ICU? How do you view your role as a nurse? Why do you want to be a nurse? Favorite/least fav./easiest/hardest clinical experience? Any other thoughts? Questions I should be preparing for? Also, thoughts about wearing color instead of black in to the interview? Thanks so much!!!
  4. You need some descriptions under each job position! I think that would bulk it up a bit.
  5. Thank you so much for asking this question! I am in the EXACT same boat! I graduated this past Dec., passed NCLEX on Jan. 10th and have been on the job hunt. I have no background in anything medical. I have over 13 years of service industry experience, so I have to convince the hiring manager that my skills I have attained through serving, will transfer well in to nursing. It is very tough where I'm from and am now branching out of state. I really needed resume help!!! I just changed mine all around. I hope it is better than my last one! Thank you everyone for your input!!!
