Wow, Awesome to hear your story. I just became interested in nursing and I am taking the nursing pre-reqs right now. My sister who is becoming a CRNA has been pointing me into this direction and it sounds really cool. After peaking my interest, I changed my major from an intel analyst to the BSN. I just left my previous job as a defense contractor working for the NSA, as an intel analyst for the Predator mission. I have absolutely no medical experience except that I was certified as a combat life saver in the Army before my last deployment. Since starting my research and reading as much as I can about nursing programs, careers and specialties, you gave the most candid account of the process. Thank you, because the whole CRNA process was starting to seem a little daunting.

Hello everyone, My name is Taylor and I am really excited about changing my career field to nursing. Until very recently I was a defense contractor working for the NSA in Augusta Ga. I decided last year (2013) that I needed a change of pace, my family and I have moved 4 times in the last 3 years and it has worn us down. So now we are in a new city, Franklin Tennessee, and I decided that I would like to pursue a career in nursing. I am currently attending school for Intelligence Analysis through American Military University and I just finished my general education courses. American Military University offers a BSN in Nursing but I would need to already be a RN for at least a year. So I am going to have to change schools for at least a while. I have been looking at a local community college (Columbia State College) that offers a AAS in Nursing and I think that is the road I am going to take. I am kind of bummed that I need to take all the pre-reqs before I can start the actual school. But I am really looking forward to starting my new career. My only experience with any kind of health care was when I took a combat life saver course while in the Army, right before my last deployment. I had a great time in that course and really enjoyed the material I learned. I am brand new to this world so I am still learning a lot every day. My sister is going to school for CRNA and she has been steering me in the right direction. I do not know what specialty I will focus on or what will catch my attention but I know that I want to continue my education after the AAS because it is free for me using the GI Bill. I am looking forward to learning more about this world and look forward to hearing some input.
