LSC-Tomball ADN program Class of 2014
Hello, Hello! Anyone of this Tomball thread?? By the way, I finally did get my blue card in the nick of time.

Lonestar 2014 Fall Hopefuls!
Yeah! Finally got my blue card yesterday. What a hassle! I had to do it twice. My first prints were rejected, so I had to reschedule it. The second time, I lubricated my hands well with Corn Husker's Lotion and prints came out fine. Did my last set on May 15, and it took 3 weeks and one day, to get the blue card. Word of advice, anyone doing fingerprints start as early as possible. You never know what snags you'll run into.

Lonestar 2014 Fall Hopefuls!
Hello again! I want to share this information, in case someone else has their finger prints rejected. I went today for a reprint of my prints because mine were rejected the first time around. This time, I did my research and found that others were recommending corn huskers lotion as a solution to getting good finger prints. Also, I read limit hand washing and don't use hand santizer--start treatment approx. 4 days in advance of your finger print appt. The lady taking my prints said that mine were coming out great this time, and I would not be rejected again. She said that she could tell that I had been lubricating my hands. I told her that I was using corn huskers lotion, and she said that it was the best. She said that in two days my finger prints will be processed and sent to the BON. I should get my blue card in a couple of weeks. Hopefully, she is right.

Lonab04, thank you for your response. How long does it take to get a blue card? Going for a retake on my finger prints, Thursday. Hoping they come out good this time.

Lonestar 2014 Fall Hopefuls!
Hi, you all! I hope all is well. Did anyone have their finger prints get rejected? I am going for a retake on Thursday. If anyone has any advice let me know. Also, I noticed on the physical exam, my doctor did not check off the gential exam because he doesn't do it. I was wondering if anyone had any problems submitting the form without the gential exam? Thanks in advance.

LSC-Tomball ADN program Class of 2014
Anyone have any problem with their finger prints or know someone that got rejected? Mine were rejected, so I got to go back and do it again. Maybe it was too much hand washing. Any suggestions on getting good prints? How long does it take to get a blue card?

Hey ya all! Is anyone excited about the upcoming orientation?
-
LSC-Tomball ADN program Class of 2014
I know that the TB test isn't suppose to be done until after we go to orientation (see acceptance letter). The secretary in the nursing department said that she would go with the later date in the letter.

LSC-Tomball ADN program Class of 2014
Thanks Lucaya! Yes, I am so doing this! I got the online April 15th requirements done. I see a long to do list that says due by May 22. On the admission checklist, it says June 16 instead. Tomorrow, I will hand in my letter of intent and ask for clarifications concerning dates.

Hi Lucaya, Thanks for the invite. Things are a little "crazy" for me right now. My husband is trying to schedule a second surgery. He has a bad wrist tear to his ligments. If you want to open a FB page, then go ahead. I am still working on the requirements. I will hand in my letter of intent early next week and do all the requirements that are due on April 15. I do not know when the nursing building (HSB) opens, but I do know the HSB library opens at 9:00.

yazi28, Here is what I know about Hep B. I went straight to the dept. head of nursing at Tomball. I had an old titer lab report showing I was immune. She said that was fine, and I included it with my paper application. Also, CVS pharmacy told me once immune always immune, and any school should accept my documentation. They said it could be harmful to get additional shots, if you already have immunity. If you included proof of first shot or titer (showing immunity) with your paper application, you should be fine.

yazi28, Yeah, that is hard. Don't you have a chance for an alternate spot?

Lonestar 2014 Fall Hopefuls!
jennjenn0205, Yeah, I know it's tough. Hang in there. I once heard a nursing student tell me that she literally had to divorce her husband, when nursing school was in session. Also, she said that she never cussed so much in her life.

yazi28 What??? If it is like the basic ADN program, you should be able to use the AP 1- Biol 2401, your A. You should check into this? Make sure you hear it from a higher up, like the head of the nursing dept. Sorry! Good Luck!

jennjenn0205, Thanks for sharing. I know what you mean. I once was accepted into a nursing school in a different state, but could not finish it. I recall that there was a lot of work and it was demanding. I hope you are connected with other students at the school. Try to get connected with the positive students. This will help carry you through. Focus on winning and may you be a winner. Best Wishes!

Hi yazi28, Well, you turned in a paper copy, so that should work. You will just have to wait it out.

Hi samsam92, Don't know why you didn't get your email. Nursing school will be challenging. If you have a great support system, you can do a lot of things. However, be careful not to overschedule yourself. The school does not advise working full-time while in the Basic ADN program. The school itself is a full-time job. Best of Luck!

Hi Lucaya, You should only be getting a confirmation that you submitted your application. Check the email you put on your application. Acceptance letters for Basic RN are not out yet. Most of us will hear something in April.
