  1. As AN LPN I have worked several areas LTC, Family Practice, School Nurse, Occupational Nurse, Tropical Med (I spent three years on board a ship in the Caribbean) currently I work in Dermatology. Good Luck in whatever areas you choose to work in.
  2. Check your manuals at work, I have note cards in a spiral binder (You can get them at Wal-Mart, K-Mart or other such stores for less than a $1.) I carry it in my pocket with all the information I need to have at my finger tips. I've never been much for carring a clip board around with me. I tried it for awhlie but it was too much of a hassel. I would carry a report sheet around with me in my pocket and make needed notes on it. With a clip board you could make copies of the needed info from the manual.
  3. Someone really needs to give these people a wake up call. Nursing is more than ORs and ICUs, it is also more than hospitals. There are several areas of nursing outside the hospital, ie LTC, home health, wound care, offices. I work in a derm office, the surgery we do there is a clean procedure. I wear my scrubs to work, then gown and glove up. That doesn't mean I should be "regarded with caution" when seen out on the street. I could go on and on but I won't.
