  1. Best of luck zoeyb! I hope you hear something positive soon!
  2. Yes, great idea (Facebook page)! I tried to set up my email through "first step" for new students which was either in SIS or on the uva homepage. Thanks Kaitlin! What should we expect as the next step? Will we be hearing from the school? So unbelievably excited about moving forward!!
  3. Welcome Lexi! Congrats everyone! UVA was my first choice for a master's prepared nursing education so I have already accepted... anyone else?? Does anyone know what will happen next? I tried to set up my UVa email account but I have to WAIT 72 hours! I would love to know what text we will be using in May! So exciting, I can't wait to meet everyone...
  4. CONGRATS!!! ME TOO!!!! YAY!!!
  5. Same! I seem to think there will be something there that will give me a clue! I am just trying to focus on getting ready for the holiday but I can't stop thinking about it (and checking)...which I guess is a good sign, it shows I can truly multitask, an essential quality in a nurse!!! LOL!
  6. Hi Danielle, we just met at the Flats! Thanks for showing us around and answering all my questions about the program, I hope I didn't "grill" you for too long! Let me tell you, it was the highlight of my week! We left there and my husband was like, OMG what are the odds of that happening?! Haha! Just great! Anyway thanks for joining the support group! I am sure everyone is going a bit nuts waiting for Saturday... Don't forget to ice that knee.... Octavia
  7. Hi Kaitlyn! Thanks for joining the group. I followed the UVA/CNL thread on this blog last year so I remember you!! When you said log in to the SIS page, do you mean the dashboard of our application page? I will probably start checking ASAP(like ten times a day, every day!)! Thanks Kaitlyn, and best of luck in your studies!!!
  8. So this thread is great, lots of great ideas! Have you thought about Massage Therapy? If you like being your own boss, making your own hours and building a business it is a great avenue. Eventually you can have MT's who work for you in an office setting. Wellness Spa's that have a touch of traditional medicine are very popular right now. You could hire yoga instructors, health coaches and folks who can give facials and massage. You could start out with just a small boutique spa, with specialized services in a beautiful setting and see how it goes.
  9. Yay angi! Keep us posted on how it goes! Good luck!!!
  10. I also got an email for interview over the weekend! I had it Tuesday and felt really great about how it went. I know you will get yours soon angi24, keep the faith! Good luck yungrundy, can't wait to hear all about it!
  11. Hi shrupert! Welcome! Congrats on getting the word for an interview. I still have not heard anything but hope to soon. I too am impressed with the CNL program at UVA. It is definitely my first choice for a masters nursing education. I have wanted to be a nurse for years and have finally arrived at a point in my life where I can really achieve the dream. I am so excited! I have been a Certified Massage Therapist for 14 years, focusing more on the clinical aspects of massage rather than the spa/resort type of approach. In the last year and a half I have been volunteering with a hospice organization, which has been incredible! I feel a true calling to this type of nursing but I am keeping an open mind. As students we will be exposed to lots of nursing specialties through the clinical rotations, which will help define our path in nursing. Thanks for asking, shrupert! How about you?
  12. Thanks for the encouraging word angi. I have not started to panic yet! Trying to think of the anticipation/waiting as a positive...like a kid on Christmas morning, lol!!!
  13. Congrats to you both!! I have not heard anything, but maybe because I submitted my application after you guys? I hope!
  14. Hi Everyone! Glad I found this thread, I am also applying to UVA Master's program! This process is so exciting and a bit scary so it is nice to have some folks in the same boat. I have gone to a few info sessions over the last couple of years and they are great! It is particularly helpful to talk with the students and ask them questions about the intensity of the program and hear their advice. Really great. Also, if you have any questions about the curriculum Dr. DeGennaro is very approachable and incredibly informative about the role of the CNL in general. I am finishing up my essays in the next few days and hope to "submit" really soon! I look forward to reading about everyone's process and getting/giving lots of support and encouragement!
  15. I have been a Certified Massage Therapist here in Virginia for 14 years. I am just finishing up my prerequisites to apply to the Clinical Nurse Leadership program at UVa in October. I love my work but get a bit frustrated with its constraints regarding working closely with healthcare professionals like doctors/nurses/hospitals. By becoming an RN I hope to better bridge the gap between my holistic side and my clinical side. From what I heard at lectures at the AMTA conference in Portland, Oregon a couple of years ago the Western states are where most of the complementary medicine is taking place. For example, in Washington State you can be a licensed massage therapist and be hired in a hospital. They have a much more Integrative approach. Good luck and let us know if you make a move!
