  1. Hi NurseBlaq, I appreciate your response. Please read my reply in conversation.
  2. Hi IIg, Thank you for your response and insight! I am living in the Northeast US. I do have much experience in teaching but have more experience as a nurse practitioner. You bring up a good point about focusing my CV on my teaching experience rather than highlighting the clinical experience. I have applied to several online programs and have either received no response or was told that they "found a better candidate!" Also, most online programs require a compact nursing license and the 2 states that I am licensed in are not part of the compact states. I do realize that I may have to obtain additional license (s) in order to qualify to teach online at many universities and colleges in the country. Thank you!
  3. Hi All, It's been a long while since I've posted. I just completed my DNP and I am having trouble finding a job in academia. I've sent out so many applications and have not had much success. I am a seasoned nurse practitioner with 21 years experience. I'm burned out with NP practice and would like to teach either undergraduate or graduate level nursing students. I would like to think that my DNP degree was not a waste of 3 years of my life!! Any suggestions?
  4. Hi, You sound discouraged. Don't give up. Maybe you have not had a good mentor. You should ask your present employer if there is someone they can get to work with you as a mentor. You probably only need 4-6 months with a good "seasoned nurse" who has the patience and is wiling to help you. Good luck and GodSpeed!
  5. Hi, I have been considering case management but from what I've researched on line, the pay doesn't seem that great. I am presently making a 6 figure salary. I know I will have to take a pay cut, and I'm willing to do that but within reason. Do you know if the insurance companies/third party billers typically pay more for RN case management/disease management positions than hospitals or other healthcare organizations pay ?? The other thing I am very interested in is becoming a legal nurse consultant for defense attorneys or an expert witness. Thanks for your advice.
  6. Thanks for your advice All4nursingRN. I have been thinking about what it is I like to do. I like looking into and researching things. I also like helping people, that's why I became a nurse so many ears ago. I am considering getting into legal nurse consulting. It will allow me to use the knowledge I have in medicine and nursing. I think it would be a rewarding job. I really think I need a new direction/change in my career. I've also thought of case management/disease case manager but the pay is not that great. Thanks for the encouragement!
  7. RN Kellie, You go girl! It must have been a difficult hill for you to climb. I have a brother who was addicted to drugs. He's been clean for several years now, by the grace of God. It's was tough for all of us. God Bless and keep moving forward.
  8. HI, I'm just looking for some feedback. I have been in nursing for 28 years and I think I'm burned out. I have been an advanced practice RN for the past 15 plus years and I think this is what caused me to burn out. I am looking for a new career that would allow me to use all of my nursing skills. I'm done with dealing with patients, families, politics, etc. Any suggestions?? Anyone?? I'm very discouraged!
