  1. Congrats to everyone starting soon. I too just got my acceptance letter in the mail last week, after being put on the wait list a month earlier. I'm 36 and starting this fall. Now that I am about to start I am excited, but very nervous. In the back of my head I worry about our age when it comes to hiring because we'll being going up against 25 year old's, but then I remember that we have experience of life on our side. Or maybe I just tell myself this to make me fell better. Anyways congrats to everyone and good luck.
  2. I am taking A&P next semester, but I can let you know later. As far as tuition and books, the first semester is $2800 and books $950. But this is including A&P, and you've done this already. After I'm done the first semester I can let you know how it's going.
  3. Thanks. 3.44 GPA university.
  4. Great. I was worried I needed a C+, but you are right. September intake, I got declined at first, but they called me this morning to tell me I've been accepted.
  5. You GPA is great. I am sure you will get accepted. I just got my offer today, and I only had a 3.44 GPA. However, you might need to upgrade that anatomy course because I think you need at least a C+.
  6. I just got an offer from Kwantlen for the fall nursing program. I am so excited, and nervous about the upcoming four years. Good luck to the rest of you. P
  7. I found out recently that I was accepted at Douglas for the 1+3 structure last year when they changed there program. So I just need to do the four biology courses and I am done year one. Disappointed I didn't get into Kwantlen, but at least I know there is somewhere I can study to become a Rn. The only thing I am worried about is how hard the program is, it has 5 courses every term. Is anyone in the program, is it manageable? Thanks for any info. P
  8. I am. I applied for fall 2014, but got turned down. Hopefully the spring will bring better news. Good luck to all.
  9. I just got my rejection letter in the mail. It says you needed 3.50 for university students.
  10. What was your GPA when you got accepted to Kwantlen?
  11. That's crazy, if you graduated with honors and still can not get accepted and had 92% on the other courses, what are the chances for the rest of us.
  12. I've taken many, mostly business because I studied to be an accountant, but after many years I got bored. I've also recently taken psychology, biology, English, and health ethics. I'm working on anatomy next, and another english elective. I'm trying to get done as many as I can so when I get in a program it will make it easier.
  13. Yes, I am going to apply again. I heard from the educational adviser the GPA's that are needed are between 3.45-3.50 depending on the pool of applicants. I thought I had a chance of getting in since it was just one point below. I guess everyone was really competitive.
  14. University. Did you apply if so with what GPA and was it from university?
  15. university or highschool? Did you hear if you got in yet?
  16. 3.44 GPA, did you apply if so what was your GPA?
  17. My status on my kwantlen account, the part of my admissions application got changed to not admissible, no seats available. I emailed the assistant and she also told me they will sending out letters in early May, I guess my rejection letter.
  18. How does everyone stay motivated after hearing a rejection to the nursing program? I need to study for exams but I can't seem to get motivated after checking my application and seeing that I did not get offered a seat. I am not giving up, but just highly disappointed. I will apply again and apply to other schools. Hopefully I get in next time. P
  19. I did not get accepted to the fall program for Sept. 2014. I am so disappointed. I guess I will just try again for next term and apply to other schools.
  20. You can work as ESN, employed student nurse after you finish the second year. Employed Student Nurses Employed Student Nurse Program Fraser Health Authority - Employed Student Nurses
  21. Thanks it good to know that people can still find jobs after going through this long journey. I will be sure to apply before graduation. Thanks for the info.
  22. Hi All, I was wondering for new graduates in BC. How long did it take to find your first job as a nurse after completing your BSN. I am just starting my journey to become a nurse in BC. I was wondering if it really matters from what school you graduate from. I've heard some people say it doesn't really matter just as long as you pass the certification exam on the first try. I was thinking of applying to UBC but I think my average in the last 30 credits is too low, around a 73%, so I think I am going to apply to Kwantlen because my overall is around 79%. I was wondering if Kwantlen graduates ever had trouble finding a job after. Or any of the other graduates from BC. Thanks
  23. I was looking at your previous postings and isn't a 3.74 grade point average a 93.5%. Aren't highschool grades based on a 4.0 scale. This would mean you would be competitive. I would suggest applying and you will find out in April if you are accepted. If you do not get accepted then start taking some courses and get a great undergraduate GPA and you will get accepted after that. There are other universities like UVIC and UBC that accepts highschool students but I would assume it would be harder to get into these. Good luck.
  24. I am in the same boat. I am 35 and just starting my nursing journey. I too was in an office accounting job, but got very bored and unmotivated to go to work. I've always dreamed about being a nurse, but losing my dad to cancer a couple years back and seeing what great care he had by the nurses and other medical staff really gave me the boast I needed to pursue my dream. Good luck to you and its nice to hear I am not alone.
  25. I am waiting too for the fall acceptance letter. I applied last month to a university in BC for the fall semester. Talked to the assistant and she said my chances are good but it depends on the pool of applicants. It's only been three weeks and the waiting is killing me, another 3.5 months of waiting. Good luck to all.
