  1. Went to school at the age of 48 and became RN at the age of 51. BEST THING I EVER DID! I will never have to worry about retirement, I will always have a job. Nursing is so wide open that I can semi retire at 62-65 and work as a nurse part-time. I can even do less physical part time jobs as a nurse e.g. doing bus runs way into my 70's. And the money is still pretty good. Go for it, you will never regret having that RN after your name!
  2. I learn all the time and one thing I learned over the years is "not everyone is going to like me". How I react to what ever is going on is what matters. You will come across this situation over and over again in your life and now is a good time to think and behave differently. Its not about you it's about them and their issues.... learn to not react to people and their issues/ behavior. Once you got that down its smooth sailing!
  3. With a Doctors supervision, exercise, meditation, yoga and a good 12 step program all can help lower the need for medication.
  4. In response to previous post... This is a small center. Everyone is in contact with the children and needs to be aware. The list contains first name and what food they are allergic too. Letting the staff who are in contact with the children know the first name of children who are prone to seizures is good safe practice also. Every other information is private or given at discretion to individual staff members. Safety first is my concern.
  5. You will only look in the eyes of the hospital that you have class and you are dedicated....that guaruntees them a good worker with additional experience of nursing school. I would talk to the hospital first about finding alternative training for that day.
  6. You're no good to anyone if you torture yourself over it, a complete waste of energy .....breathe and just learn from it.
  7. I handed out a list "first name only" of the students in my center who were under seizure precaution and those who had allergies, to every staff member. The list must stay in their classroom or office, and out of sight. Everything else is private.
  8. I am picking #1,related to cooking in water. #2 is correct #3 Is unknown food so I would not eat it. #4 Is the ice could be unpurified water. I'll be curious to hear the answer!
