Worst nursing experience
I don't know what happened with u & ur nurse. I am a new nurse & i said to myself i would never treat my cna's the way i had been treated at times when i was a cna. But things are different when ur the nurse & on the other side. My responsibilities are very difficult. If cna's do not turn & reposition the pt's, their skin breaksdown & then i'm the one who has to explain to the pt's family why their skin is even brokdown to begin with & i'm the one who has to hold the hand on the dying diabetic who is dying because of an infected skin ulcer. I'm the one who has to explain to families why are cna's did not shower their loved one last nite. I'm the one who has to explain to the DON the next day why one of my cna's upset a pt. I'm the one who has to explain to the pt & then the DON why they had to wait 23minutes for some1 to come in & assist them. I'm the one who has to explain to the supervisor why a pt has been sitting in their wheelchair,& dripping pee (and u just know they have not been touched or toileted). I'm srry for what happened to u but trust me when i say this everything is different on the other side. Please take some of the above things i mentioned & take them into consideration & think for a moment what would you would say or how u would respond if u were the nurse.

Thinking of not accepting my nursing acceptance.
I know exactly how u feel. When i was in nursing school-it was h...!!!!!!! The instructors were wishy washy. Tests were on material we had not covered yet. And to make matters worse there were even skills we did 3 semisters ago we were to just remember & do perfectly!!!!!!!! There were times i came home, crying, dropped my bags & said i can't do this anymore. But i continued to put up with it & made it through. And lookin back i'm glad they did what they did-b/c now i protect my license like one of my children. I worked my a.. off for it!!! Whenever i'm faced with a situation-I think back to my h... days & think i worked hard for this!!!!!!! And i'll tell you right now if you can't handle a test on material you haven't covered, .... Well that isn't anything compared to what's really out there in this field!!!!!!!! You will be faced with situations that they don't teach you about in nursing school!!!!!!!! Remember Just do the best u can do!!!!!!!!! I wish you luck!!!!!! :)

Total Knee Surgery
I work in a rehab facility where the majority of our pt's are knee or hip replacements. The majority of hip/knee replacement pt's are there from anywhere's from 2weeks up to 6 weeks. Some are in a lot of pain at 1st. edema is very common & may need assist with some ADL's, and physical therapy is tough! but i have only heard positive feedback from pt's afterward. My mother had both knee's done & she says it is very painful, long physical therapy & hard work, but is was definetly worth it. She experiences no more joint pain to this area, finds it easier to walk up stairs, and can tolerate standing on her feet a lot more. Good luck! And remember after the surgery to be non weight bearing to the surgical leg. Leg out & up when sitting down(no bending), try to obtain a high toilet seat(or attachment for the seat), & monitor surgical site-keep it sterile/dry, apply ice every 1-2 hours for 10-20 minutes on/off. Elevate the extremtity for swelling.

excelsior college-how do the clinicals work?
I am a lpn that just started in a nursing home in the rehab section of it. It sucks. And i tell ya im not a complainer type of person either. But the cna's treat me like dirt & walk all over me. They take hour long breaks, don't do there showers, don't turn & position their pt's. then i tried several times to be ascertive with them in order to get things done but that didn't work so finally i spoke up tonite (i was very calm & mature ) & all this one cna did was act all ghetto, told ME I WAS LAZY! & he even raised his voice to me! Lazy!!!! i never even get a break!!!! I tell ya i was scared & the so called supervisor she lives in a trailer park & says to me "oh yeah that's just the way he is"- WHAT!!!!!! (i was thinking). The other nurses that were there & have been there for like years suck too-they just said "oh ive never had a problem with him" The same nurses that took credit for my work 2-they came to my cart while im doing a med pass & asked me everything about an admission that had come in that nite on our shift-and made the care plans out of that!!!!! then i overheard them braggin to the next shift "oh yeah & i even got the care plans done for all the new admissions. WHAT!!!!! Then the day after i passed my boards exam this i go to work & this place leaves me alone on a floor all by myself!!!!!!!! i sucked it in & did the work but i was crying by the end of the nite-& the the shift nurse helped me quickley finish up. I really don't mean to complain but is this just the nursing home atomspere or what? Does any1's else's job suck like this????
