  1. This summer I am taking a dosage calculation class that is needed for our first nursing class. The first couple of quizzes have been two A's and one B. However my teacher decided on the next test to give us tricker problems and some stuff we have not been told we needed to know how to do for the quiz. So of coorifice I bombed this quiz. I feel humilated and afraid that this is what will be done in my nursing program that they will teach us one thing and on the tests or quizzes try to trick us so they can weed us out of the program. I have been sad all day and feel as though I will not reach my dream to be a nurse because of the teachers teaching methods. I have been working so hard at this class and my prereq's. I don't know what to do or how to feel someone please. I need some help to know what to do. Anyone have any thoughts to share?

  4. Coopergrrl thanks for your support. I will try to find some alternate nannys that would workout and be willing to help. Thanks so much for your advice. It really helped to hear your story. I was starting to think I was alone in this issue. :)
  5. Hi everyone I need some advice. I am a new nursing student who is beginning my clinicals this Spring 2006. I am worried that I will not be able to finish clinicals because I have a small child about the age of 3 who has asthma and seasonal allergies. ALthough her conditions are mild and controlled very well on medication. I am afraid that I will not be able to get through school because she may get sick alot and can't attend daycare. I love my daughther and I have always been there for my daughter since birth however I have been working so hard to get into nursing school and it is my dream to be a good nurse. Does anyone have any advice or things to suggest.
  6. I will be starting my clinicals in the Spring 2006. I have some of the same fears about LTC's but, I am hoping that once I start my clinicals it will become second nature to be with patients and attend to them. Although I am hopping this I am still very nervous about LTC's and each new clinical experience.
  7. My GPA was a 4.0 when I was accepted into nursing school.
  8. I have a little girl who will be three when I start my Nursing class/clinicials in Spring 2006. My school has a day care on campus that she will be attended while I am in class or clinicials. This will be her first time really going to day care on a consistent basis. Although she will be on campus with me I still worry will she like the day care center and will she get sick alot being around the kids. I have really been praying she will be happy being with other kids and getting to :uhoh21: do activities everyday while I attend nursing school but, I must say it is so hard being torn between wanting to persue your dream to be a nurse and still be a good mom. :uhoh21:
  9. I don't believe that the level of education determines how good of a nurse you are. I worked really hard to get into my asn program and all I have every wanted was to be a nurse. I believe that to make a good nurse it has to do with your drive and determination to be good at what you love. Because if you truely love what you do you work hard to be the best you can possibly be at it and if you do have and areas that needed improvement you would try your hardest to change and fix the problem. I have had so many people tell me I believe you should have to attain a BSN but, I have experienced for my self when I was pregnant with my daugther bad BSN nurses AND ASN nurses. The education is not the problem it lies within the person. That person decides do I really love nursing or do I just want to take that job for other reasons than helping others and because this is something I really want to do. If you take any job for reasons that are superfical it will just back fire on you and the others in the profession that are working hard and love what they do everyday. NOT to metion the damage it does to people who want to get into nursing.

  11. I am a new nursing student getting ready to begin my first nursing classes in the Spring of 2006. Does anyone think it is worth it during the summer after my first clinical rotation to work as a nurse extern in local hospital or should I just enjoy the summer vacation?
  12. Wow I really don't feel alone anymore because of you guys experiences about your young children. I too have a young 2 year old who will be 3 and a half when I start my nursing classes and clinicals. I to am afraid about leaving my child in preschool and hoping that she will like it and not get sick alot. I have been a stay at home mom and with her since she was born. I have finished all my prereq's and was accepted into the nursing clinicals this past March and now that I am too waiting to begin my nursing clinicals and lecture I worry about my little girl and will she make friends and enjoy preschool. I also have this huge desire to be the best nurse I can be. I have always wanted to be a nurse for as long as I can remember and I have worked so hard to keep high marks to get accepted into the program :uhoh21:
  13. I am a nursing student in a ADN program. Just got accepted into the program last march. I am nervous but excited to get started. I have heard many stories about Nclex and it makes me anxious to prepare and be informed for what is the best way to begin. Thanks for your information it was very helpful :)
  14. What are some of the best NCLEX-RN books to use in preparing for the NCLEX-RN exam? Anyone have any good suggestions for success in studying with this book for this exam and when you should start studying? Some other students say to start studying in conjunction with nursing school classes and others suggest to study during summer breaks? Which is best?
  15. For nursing students what are some good choices of stethoscopes to use for nursing school and clinical rotations?
