CSUN ABSN 2015
Studio City is personally my favorite part of the Valley (and I grew up in the Valley)! There are a lot of young professionals, lots of shops and restaurants, always something to do. So for those reasons, it's a really desirable area.

I am moving out of my 2-bedroom in Studio City. I'm sad to move because this apartment is awesome, but I'm starting at CSULA in June so I'm moving closer to that area.

CSUN ABSN 2015
I was accepted to CSUN's fall cohort last Thursday!! Such an exciting moment. I also got into Cal State LA's ABSN two days earlier. It's been a huge decision, but definitely not the worst problem to have! I've decided to go with Cal State LA because I am secured a spot in their NP program as long as I pass the NCLEX. It's an opportunity I couldn't bring myself to pass up! So as much as it has pained me to do this, I just notified the nursing department at CSUN that I will be giving up my seat in the fall cohort. I'm glad that one more person who has been patiently waiting will be able to take my spot this fall! Good luck everyone!!!

RN or NP--Help!
I was accepted at two schools in the LA area; CSUN's ABSN and CSULA's ABSN with the option to continue onto NP upon completion of the NCLEX (they suggest one year of work as an RN before beginning the NP track). Their NP program seems very affordable at 7.5k per year (2 year program). I am definitely interested in becoming an FNP and I'm worried that if I don't go for it now, the DNP will soon become the only option and MSN programs will transition. However, CSUN's program (no NP track) is at least 10k-15k cheaper for the BSN and three months shorter. However, if I decided to do that program and do NP later down the line, I would need to reapply to schools and risk not getting in, having to take the GRE, and risk getting into a more expensive school than CSULA. But I don't know many FNP's and I have no one to talk to about this huge decision! I have to make a decision in the next 3 days. Please help!!!!

CSUN ABSN 2015
Did everyone indicate that they're flexible for Summer or Fall? I only put summer because someone when I called the nursing department months ago, I asked if selecting only one choice would limit me. They said that if your preference (summer or fall) is full but they want to offer you admission, they will still offer you a spot in the other cohort. But I'm so worried about this now because others on here have said that they put down a "first choice" and "second choice." I just spoke with someone from the department and he said that he's not sure if they're considering applicants for fall if they indicated summer as their preference...he said they "might be." So yeah, I am freaking out about this.

As far as I've heard from past cohorts, they do Kaiser Panorama City but not Kaiser Sunset. Clinicals are also done at Valley Presbyterian and the V.A. in addition to the ones ElizabethH736 named.

CSUN ABSN 2015
I'm from Chatsworth so I know the area around CSUN very well. If your main concern is being super close to campus, then you can't beat Northridge, North Hills, Granada Hills, Lake Balboa, or Chatsworth. If you're willing to drive a tiny bit further (15-20 min drive to campus) but have more access to bars/restaurants/shops, then I would suggest the south Valley: Tarzana, Encino, Sherman Oaks. All of these are off of Ventura Boulevard, which is the more "happening" part of the Valley. Housing here is probably slightly pricier than it is closer to campus. I would try to steer clear of anything east of the 405 (Panorama City, Van Nuys, North Hollywood) only because crossing the 405 will often double your traffic time. I love my neighborhood (Studio City, next to Universal Studios) and I would recommend it, but it's at least 20-25 mins to CSUN. Hope this helps!

I just called them and they said that not all acceptances have been sent out yet. Thank god! But they said it could take up to two weeks...let's hope not...
