I'm not going to the orientation Jan 9th. It's really not "mandatory" I have already spoken to my advisor. Yes I'm aware of the on campus visits which I will be putting leave in for when the time comes around!

Hi. I joined as an AF critical care RN in Aug of 2017 after a year long process. You do have to have a great packet to make yourself competitive but I didn't have my CCRN. It's not necessary. I had an interview with a critical care consultant as well as a Colonel. You definitely even have way more experience than I do coming into the AF and my packet was still selected for critical care! Hi I was going through reading comments and saw yours. I start the Acute care DNP program in Jan! When it comes to clinicals how many times did you have to make a visit to campus before the start of clinical rotations? I'm just wondering, I live in VA and I'm also active duty military! I don't have a lot of information at this time. I do know that we should buy some things ahead of time just to make in-processing easier.

Looking forward to new adventures as well! Has anyone started buying things ahead of time. If so, what have you started buying. I was told by my recruiter and my sponsor at Langley to get as much as I could beforehand!!

Congratulations to both of you on your acceptance. I applied to GWU's Fall 2017 semester as well. I haven't heard anything as of yet. How long did it take from your application being submitted to you hearing you were accepted. I have applied to another school as well. I want to have options and also make the right decision for myself as well! Again, congrats to you both!!

Hi Ray, I have considered reserves. My only draw back was that when I talked to a reserves recruiter they weren't offering any loan repayment nor a few other things I was interested in. I do love my civilian job at Mayo so needless to say despite how far along I am in the process of going Active I'm still very nervous!

Thank you so much for your response. I have had my concerns about the type of "ICU" population I would be dealing with. I'm still tied to wanted to serve due to prior military in my family, although no one on the medical side. I'm leaning towards just one term as of now if I get accepted, just to see how I like it!

I actually did go straight into the ICU as a new grad.

Hi all. I am in the process of joining the AF Nurse Corp as a 46N3E (critical care nurse). Background: I'm a nurse in a mixed ICU working at Mayo Clinic with 1 year + experience. I was wondering if anyone had any advice or input on COT. I could possible be going as early as April 2017 if I am selected. I have already had my chief nurse and NP interview, both of which went very well. If you are a current AF nurse could I get some input on how life has been for you and what it's been like being a nurse in the military versus the civilian sector. Thanks in advance

Hi Hillvb I applied with a 3.2 and was accepted. Good luck, I'm sure you will get in as long as you are over a 2.9 and have nothing against you when you submit your background check! It's a great program and I am enjoying it!

Thank you BnEmamas! Yes I'm excited. I figured it would be more vitals, hand washing techniques, and things like that to being with. I just want to be prepared and offset some of the nervousness haha if possible! Yes as far as NCLEX I have been told to buy a book! I am purchasing the Saunders Comprehensive Review 5th Edition from Amazon to study along with my books for class. Thanks again for the input, good luck to you in your nursing career!

Hi All! So I was finally accepted into upper division after being on the waiting list for a short time! I will begin January 14th at USC, the college I have been attending since I graduated high school. I have received my schedule and would like some input about what to expect in the first semester! As far as the integrated nursing practium which is my first practium. I have it on Wed & Fri from 630 to 1600 what type of skills and things should I expect, and does anyone have any advice on the drug competency aspect. Such as tips on learning the conversions and things, I just want to make sure I am always prepared and that I can do the best I can to pass everything! Thanks in advance for all the comments! :)

Hi I am enrolled in the BSN program at the University of South Carolina. I will be graduating soon but I don't know what to do after that. I have been looking at the BSN to DNP program can someone please shed some light as to whether that is worth it. I also was thinking of joining the air force (since I will have a bachelors degree, I will go in an an officer). I was looking into Nurse Anesthetist if I joined the AF. Which route would be better?! I just need to decide what path I want to pursue so I can make sure I have everything in order!
