UK Immigration / recession discussion
Domestic is a professsional name maid in my opinion is quite disrespectful, in my experiance Brits myself included move abroad for a new experiance not for money and certainly not because of a lack of opportunities here. Where i live in Scotland there is desperate need for trained nurses. My ward is running very understaffed and we have alot of indian staff who are very good

UK Immigration / recession discussion
Correct me if i am wrong but again you are way off the point this thread is recession and retrogression the immigration policy of the UK has nothing to do with US Recession and retrogression. My hospital is still employing Nurses and in fact Domestics from s.e asia. Hospitals in the UK are dictated by there individual budgets and not byworld recession and i work and live in the Uk so don't try and tell me i don't know what i am talking about. There is a nursing shortage in the UK and the UK goverment will always look for cheap quick fixes which in the past and the future will be nurses from outside the EU and these nurse will always be welcome in UK hospitals because we need them

UK Immigration / recession discussion
My point is the lack of employment within an individual UK trust has nothing to do with the world wide credit problem but with the individual trusts budget. You will find alot of non EU nurses are being employed in Huge numbers in nursing homes and care facilities due to a chronic shortage in these facilities. Recession and retrogression has nothing to do with the UK's nursing jobs

UK Immigration / recession discussion
Comment all you like aboutt the US, but the Uk is a completely different ball game, we have an acute nurse shortage and most trusts in the Uk are still hiring and there is certainly no job freeze where i work and if there was it would have nothing to do with the world economy but because an individual trust has spent all there budget. The NHS here is funded by the government not privately. You can scare people all you want about the Us but you obviously have no clue about the UK let alone the rest of the EU nurses from other Eu countries are coming to the UK and leaving there own countries short

January 2009 Visa Bulletin
This is getting rather childish, as i have said before everyone is entitled to there own opinion, also everyones case is different and on the positive side when the financial troubles improve the hospitals downscaling and hire freezing will be looking for nurses again.

Canadian New RN Grad wishing to work in Scotland!
I agree with everything Kaylesh says, Ilive and work in Aberdeen and there are lots of jobs but remember we work very under staffed i came off shift Yesterday i was only trained nurse to 19 patients. It is hard going at times also the cost of living certainly in Aberdeen is very high

It is worth stating that tthe last 3 times the world markets have crashed including black monday in the uk and after 9/11 in the US within 6-12 monthes the markets and economies reached record highs and many economists are predicting the same again so these hospitals that are laying off and freezing jobs will be by this time next year looking for nurses again.

am not upset i am just giving my opinion, i do not think i have special circumstances, true i have been nursing for 17 years and i am going hopefully to a rural hospital and with my PD of Jun 05 i feel i will get my interview within this fiscal year. Many people on here wil still have 2 or 3 years before they get an interview and things will change greatly in that time so this is not the time for knee jerk reactions. as i have said everybody on here has different special circumstances relative to there own case:D

please do not answer for me. also iam a she not a he i have dialogue with the hospital aswell as my agency. i also know a foreign nurse that started there 6 weeks ago. it is a rural hospital so are well understaffed they run with a severe shortage and 30 percent of there nurses at the moment are foreign they have told me they can't attract local nurses. i have been waiting for a long time and have done my homework. i don't entirely trust my agency so i like to speak direct to the facility who interviewed me and i have met and talked to on many occasions, everyone has an opinion on the financial situation and nobody knows where it will lead, it is a world crisis not just an american one. speculation is one thing but fact is another every nurse on this forum will have a different story to tell and i was just sharing mine i am not being naive as some are portraying me and i have fully researched this whole process. i know job offers are being withdrawn but there are still many hospitals outwith the major cities especially that are still looking to take in foreign nurses that is a fact.

I have been in touch with my future employer in the US and they say my offer will stand as long as it takes they admit they may not look to make offers to foreign nurses at the moment but the offers already made will stand in there words my job is theyre for me how ever long it takes and lets not forget the economic downturn is a global situation not just an American situation. PD Jun 05

Do I stand a chance
I am not trying to put you off Scotland, but it rains most days here and is never hot. Nursing in Aberdeen where i come from is grim i work in a trauma ward where some nights i am the only RN to 15-24 patients and the money is poor compared to the cost of living, i am only in it because i love nursing and to be honest if i was,nt in the long process of moving to the states i would have quit long ago

Do I stand a chance
Why would you want to leave sunny Florida for dreary and damp Scotland?

My case was complete on APR18 Pd Jun 05 i am still awaiting my case being forwarded to London embassy this is nearly the 8 weeks NVC tells you to allow for further instruction. Is there anyone who has a forwarded case already and how long did it take from time of completion, we really want it forwarded before visas run out so at the very least it is at the embassy and away from the NVC

NVC -CP- GC Tracker
Well it says allow 8 weeks for further instruction and that has been nearly 5 weeks so hopefully we will get some good news in the next few weeks, we are just so desperate to get an interview this summer i know if not we should get one before year is out but the time we have waited we just want to get our interview as soon as possible.we should get our interview date before visas become unavailable in July but when you have been waiting as long as us you take nothing for granted

does anyone know if the nvc recorded response tells you when your case is forwarded or is the case complete message the last one

June 2008 Visa Bulletin
It has to get there first but i have learned throughout this process to keep nagging people to get them to make sure everything is correct but as soon as i hear it has been forwarded i will be on their case every day we are so desperate to get to USA this year.:nuke:
