Driving across country
Ok, I don't know why NedRN would speak of I-10 hispanic culture shock or drug traffic crime. I think it is insensitive and ignorant to point any of that out. Now that being said, I will tell you about my experience because I consider myself a road warrior and have traveled long distance from FL to NY and from FL to NV so here's my advice. I took I-75N to I-10W to I-20W finally to I-40W. Don't rely 100% on your cellphone GPS. There may be areas between Amarillo TX and Albuquerque NM where the signal will be spotty. You should already have a general idea where you are going. Get a paper map just in case. I can tell you there will be a stretch of road where you will may be the only car on the road. Watch your gas level don't allow your gas level to go past 1/4. Be aware of your surroundings when you stop to get gas. I would get my gas, go to the restroom and get my food in one stop and back on the road in 20 minutes or less. Due to the fact that you will be traveling alone, if I were you, I would start traveling at 4 a.m. and end the day at 6 p.m. or 7 p.m. I would never travel at night by myself. When you start feeling tired (and you will) pull over to a rest station and take a nap. Just make sure all your doors are locked, there should be other cars/trucks at the rest stop. You can do it. Just map out your trip, leave early, take breaks when you are tired, watch your gas and don't drive at night.

Will I get better?
I am a new LPN and it feels like I am working with 10 thumbs. I am finding that I may not like pediatrics because my heart aches for the children in their condition and I don't like seeing the parents stressed with sleepless nights. Many of the parents are super cautious, which I have no problem with. Some of them have been giving meds to their little one for decades and here I come along with green thumbs. Will I get better?

Failed nclex, pls help me if you passed Nclex in 2015
Hi, You can get study materials from your local library for free. Since you are strap for cash, only use a credit card that is valid and has less than $200 when you do the PVT. Lastly, when taking the NCLEX, eliminate the obvious wrong answer and go from there. Don't read into the questions and provide an answer based on what the question is asking. Take your time answer the questions but avoid reading into them. Good luck next time.

Studying for NCLEX PN! Need help!
Hi Aestolano, I just passed the NCLEX-PN. I was doing the same thing you were doing, copying but I stopped. The information is already there. Think about the time you are wasting copying. You more than likely could have read the information several times versus copying it. Just read and try to understand what you are reading. It's ok to jot some things down but not the entire book. As for maternity, be sure to know what happens in each stage of labor. Peds, I would say know what happens in each stage of development. The fact that you are reading 2-3 chapters a day is great! I took the test and honestly felt like my nursing school questions were harder than the NCLEX. On the day of the exam just be prepared and take your time answering each question. You will do fine!

Passed the NCLEX-PN 85 Questions!!!
Hello, I sat for the NCLEX-PN yesterday at 8 a.m. and passed after answering 85 questions. I had 0 math, approximately 10 SATA, 2 drag and drop and the rest multiple choice. The questions were scary easy, I thought I wasn't doing well. After the 85th question the blue screen popped up. I took a break and came back only to find out that my test had indeed ended and was being asked to do the survey. Hours later I did the Pearson Vue Trick and got the good pop up. I used a credit card that was valid and only had $1.00 on it. Today, I went on the BON website to look up my name, it was not there. I then checked my application status and got a pop up that showed Congratulations! Your application has been approved. It also gave me the option to print my confirmation license that showed my license #. My hard copy should come in the mail. I used Sauder's (Red Book) and Exam Cram (blue book) to study. For those who are struggling to pass, my advice is to study well. Don't try to consume all the information at one time. One day I would study the Respiratory system, the next day I would study the Endocrine system. I watched YT videos to mix it up. I also took breaks....long breaks like 2 days. I switched up my study area, some days I would go to the library, other days I would sit in my car (no joke). Go into the test well prepared and take one question at a time. Eliminate the obvious wrong answer(s) and know what your UL person can and cannot do. I know I missed 2 obvious questions yesterday. I really beat myself up. I came out of the test thinking I did not pass it and how easy the test really was. The SATA questions didn't bother me one bit. You will do just fine on those. As a matter of fact, I thought the SATA questions were much easier than the multiple choice. My next steps are to find a position and get information on RN schools.

NCLEX PN in 10 days!!!
Hi, I am taking the nclex pn on March 4th as well. Wishing you all the best!!! I am using Saunders (Red Book) and the Exam Cram (Blue Book). Next week I plan on doing nothing but Nclex questions. I am doing some now but will step it up quite a bit starting Thursday. My former nursing instructor told us to use only one book to study. I couldn't help it. I had to use two.

Lvn scope of practice please. Help!
Think of it this way. If a patient is receiving a blood transfusion and starts to show signs of an allergic reaction, would you leave your patient to go and notify the RN while the blood continues to infuse? Once the patient shows an allergic reaction you have to stop the blood transfusion. I would choose to stop the transfusion and then call for help. You can't leave the patient alone when they are in distress. Always think of patient safety. It's within the your scope of practice to press a button to stop the transfusion, to prevent further harm to the patient. It's not within your scope of practice to start an IV or push meds through it.

Why are Coworkers Discouraging me from doing my LPN
Hello, You should do what is best for you. I can tell you that a lot of students go directly to Broward College for their RN, flunk out and then come to ATC for their LPN. ATC is not a walk in the park by any means. There are test after test after test. In some cases you will have any where from 2-4 test a week. It is doable.
