The problem, that all my 6 months and orientation I have been on the MED side and both of reports were about surg pt. I did not have such experience preveously...It was hard to find my 1st job here( maybe because it was 1st job in States with no references) Hope will be better this time...I would prefure some less acute setting and not 12 hour shifts... but who knows! Shabat Shalom! At doveret ivrit? Ani mi Haifa!

By the way , there IS a big gap in nursing between US and Israel, where you have MD 24 hours in the hospital , you DO NOT take out oders and telephone oders, and DO not do full assesement 2 times a shift, nurses cannot give meds on there own ( no PRN lists) they just do What MD oders, much less own jugement, so it was a big chalenge for me here, but I am sure I was almost There....I appriciate the help I got in my hospital, and I am sure, that if my manager did not lieve 3 weeks ago, I would not be fired

In morning labs K was 2.9 , consent was signed, preop check list done, the Dok decided to take Pt to surgery at 1200 and at 1300 she was already down to OR, so everything went fast...

My orientation was OK 6-8 weeks in med. part and there I feel preaty confident. I have been working for for 6.5 months, but in the medical part , this was my 2 or 3 shift rotation to the surg part and of course, I did not know a lot ( that I had to call Anasteziologist before setting epidural, because the pt had entrathecal ... ) but nothing happened to the Pt, just they investigated every step of mine and found a lot NOT DONE BY PROTOCOL, then I was told that phisitians complained and oncologists... I did NOT work with oncology doctors at all...
  8. I am a nurse from Israel, worked for Legacy from october 2006 at med/surg (it was most medical)and today I just had a conversation with a safety/quality manager and was given an choice to quit myself or... she was going to fire me. This came as a result of 2 incident reports when I was rotated to serg unit ( 1 of them was the delay of surgery,- which I "did not report Low K level...a month ago the other report I was not shown at all, I was explained that I did not follow the protocol , did not sign here, there, and that it is UNSAFE for the patients , whom I take care of I have a question Do all new grads really come to the unit with the knowlage of all protocols and procedures? I am not sure that next time some other protocol will not be new to me What can I do to avoid such things? Is it OK in States to fire a person in 1 day and not to SHOW the report on him? Thanks Svetas
  9. In Legacy Meridian Park we are 4-5 : 1 in med/srg, sometimes without CHT
