  1. Hey, sorry for the late reply! I messaged you back =)
  2. Yes, I did.
  3. Yes in Santa Rosa, CA
  4. This response is a few years late:whistling:, but I wanted to follow up with my original post, and say that I was accepted to the program and I did complete it. If anyone has questions about it, please feel free to post or message me.
  5. Hello guys, I am a recent graduate from a BSN program on the east coast, and am having a HORRIBLE time finding my first job. I expanded my search to hospitals located on the west coast, and applied to Santa Rosa Memorial's ER (as that was a position that I met all qualifications for). Two questions: 1. I am reading that this is a horrible place to work due to all of the politics involved. Is it really a nightmare? Or is it doable as a first job, so that I can get 6mos to a years worth of experience needed to transfer to a better hospital? 2. To anyone who has received a job offer, my application status has switched from "being reviewed by a recruiter" to "considering qualifications". Can I ask what are the odds of landing an interview based on this information? In other words, is that a really good sign or is it still too early to know? Thank you =)
  6. Hey everyone, I am trying to find out if anyone else on here applied to Loyola's program? I applied in July, and I have everything sent in, so now I'm just keeping my fingers crossed. :)
  7. Hey everyone, I found out yesterday morning that I was accepted.=) However, I am not going to attend due to the cost. I do not want to take out that much money for a second bachelors degree. I may consider NYU for the RN-MSN program later on though. Good luck to all! =)
  8. Yea like Nata said, people got accepted at the end of May, I wouldn't assume that...
  9. ok, I am trying to verify if no news really is good news lol.
  10. Congrats!! =) Does that mean they have already sent out some rejections as well??
  11. Nothing...
  12. Hopefully we hear some good news tomorrow!! =)
  13. Nata, it all depends. As I was talking with Dee about it, it depends on how much money you receive in subsidized and unsubsidized loans (this is what you get when you fill out the FAFSA), grants and/or scholarships. If that doesn't cover your tuition then you have to take out a private loan which is HORRIBLE. The unsub and sub loans (as well as a private loan) you would have to eventually pay back. Any grant or scholarship money received you don't have to pay back. If you have to take out a private loan, check with your bank and see what the interest rates are, I know a lot of people who use Sallie Mae. Check out the Sallie Mae website, they have all of this information, and can probably explain it better than I can
  14. I just started using financial aid this year, so I am still learning about it..But so far, at my current school we are awarded an amount of money from the government per semester...So when my financial aid award is posted, it tells me how much money I have been given for that semester...To only be allotted 25K for a program that is around 100K sounds a little low? It is not that NYU is covering your entire tuition, because you are taking out those loans, and ultimately have to pay them back. So essentially NYU is only covering what they gave you in grant or scholarship money. Either way, this is great info, and I probably won't be taking out that much money for a second undergraduate degree.
  15. @kd nothing yet....
  16. Yikes, that is ridiculous. 100K in student loans, plus additional private loans.. If this were a masters program I think I would be more understanding, but for a second bachelors....Also, no one can give me a concrete answer on the quality of the education. My friend who went to NYU (not for nursing ) said you are only paying for the name, and not many employers give you a leg up because of it. Other people I talk to say, OMG NYU I loved it!!! so I don't know...I got accepted to a school in FL (where I have residency) and more than 75% of the tuition is covered, so I may just look into NYU for my masters... Thanks for sharing that NYC, it is good information!
  17. The website says it is completed in four semesters, so around 100K... Living expenses are probably different for everyone, unless you choose to live in the student housing...I am not sure how much that is
  18. @dee, I looked up the tuition per term and it looks like it's roughly 24-26K (depending on additional fees that they always throw in there last minute) So it looks like financial aid should cover it, if I understand correctly? I am just trying to do the math to see if I can afford to go (if accepted). That doesn't include living expenses either...
  19. I just went through my saved inbox, I did receive a very short email from NYU stating that they received my app. I guess its just been so long that I forgot. I wonder if they have sent out any rejections yet...
  20. congrats tlac! =) I haven't heard anything yet...@aestela, I never received an actual confirmation that my application was complete. I just see that all my stuff has been checked off on Albert. Were we supposed to receive one? Has anyone else applied with prereq's still incomplete? Like I applied for the Fall, but if I get accepted I still have to take Micro in the Fall... They said if you have prereqs that are incomplete, then you apply as a non-accelerated student, but you still use the second degree application...
  21. darn, ok. Thanks for the info!
  22. Do any of you know if NYU will allow you to defer? I found some info on the NYU website that talks about freshman deferring, but nothing for second degree nursing students.
  23. I'm not sure, that is what I heard. I know the school that I attend now (Loyola) makes note of it.. This process is brutal! I'm already making other plans..
  24. Musing, that (unfortunately ) sounds about right, because most of the people on this forum who got accepted said they most likely won't attend...I am still thinking about calling, but I heard that if you call it gets noted in your file. So I am not sure yet..Anyone else want to call
  25. If I don't hear anything on Thursday, I think I'm going to call... I sent my application in around Sept/Oct of last year...This is taking waaaaaay too long.
