  1. I have my interview for the nursing program in a few days and I'm working on my intro letter. These are my instructions: When you arrive for your interview, please bring a typewritten Letter of Introduction. This letter will be your opportunity to introduce yourself by sharing information you want the Committee to know about you. I have already talked about the experience I have in health care as well as some of the things I've learned that would be beneficial as a nurse but I still have more space to take up. I don't want to talk about why I wan't to be a nurse because I will get asked that question. What would you put in your letter?
  2. If there is a nurse you have a good relationship with I would talk to them about it. Maybe you can talk to your charge? I'm very lucky in that the nurses and techs in my ER all have a strong relationship, sure, we have some ***** but most of them are pretty approachable. In fact, I had to teach a nurse how to do iv's a couple weeks ago. Maybe you can approach it as a teaching opportunity if she's a new nurse? All the tech's in our ER are EMT's and all of us come from an ambulance so we do our best work in a moving, cramped box, I used that as a way to help her gain confidence in her IV skills and showed her the right way to do a couple things.
  3. Not sure if this will be helpful anymore but when cleaning with the three swabs look for the 'wink'. That is the opening to the urethra. And don't be shy about getting your hands up in there! Attach the syringe to the foley BEFORE you insert the catheter, it's easier to inflate the bubble right away and will save you some fumbling.
