Nursing is not for me possibly..losing that drive/push
Hi Yani! My advice for you? Go grab your STNA/CNA (State Tested Nursing Assistant) license in New Jersey. Schooling is typically just 120 hours of training in first aid, taking vitals, patient care, etc. You could probably obtain your license from your community college. That way, you can get your foot in the door and really find out if this is the right career choice for you. Some long term care facilities and hospitals offer the training as well. I live in Ohio, so I am not sure of any specific facilities in New Jersey. Are you able to retake the entrance exam? I believe studying and retaking the exam would be of great benefit, because obtaining your RN at a community college is much much cheaper, especially if you have all or most of the prereqs completed for your college. Another option is to look for Licensed Practical Nursing schools in your area. LPNs are Nurses without a College degree in Nursing. Most programs are held at a tech school. If you choose to go this route, you could become a licensed nurse within 9 to 18 months, get nursing experience, and then plan to go back to school to obtain your RN. Some community college offer LPN to RN programs, allowing the LPN to gain college credit for their license. (I am doing this now). I typed "lpn schools in new jersey" in google and the second result took me to the New Jersey League for Nurses Website. The specific link showed more than twenty LPN schools in New Jersey. Maybe take a look :) You could also ask your hospital that you volunteer at to shadow an RN for a shift. That way, you can see more in depth what nursing is like and if you feel as if nursing isn't for you after gaining some experience, talk to a college advisor at your community college. They will most likely be able to give you great suggestions for other career paths that directly relate to the college credits that you have already obtained. Hope this helps!!! -Veronica

ADN to BSN tuition reimbursement in Cleveland, Ohio.
Hello all! I am hoping that I am creating a new thread in the correct area. I am interested in what others have experienced and advice on the best tuition assistance programs for ADN - BSN nurses in Cleveland, Ohio. My name is Veronica and I am an LPN in Cleveland, Ohio. I am currently going to Lakeland Community College for my ADN and I have also taken all but two of my prereqs/gen eds for Cleveland State's ADN to BSN program. I will graduate in December 2014 with my ADN - RN, and plan on looking for work right away. I will also be applying to Cleveland State's RN to BSN program, which will start in Fall 2015. Assuming I am accepted (I have been in contact with an advisor for 2 years), I would like to find employment that will cover all or some tuition costs for the 3 semesters I will need to take at Cleveland State. Would I need to find employment that offers tuition assistance within 6 months, before I start at Cleveland state? is this realistic? or are there loan repayment programs available, so that after I attend and receive my BSN a facility would pay my loans off? Are there health care facilities in the area that offer programs specific to my situation? Any advice or information is appreciated!! Thank you!

LPN to RN (ADN) looking for summer internship/work in Cleveland, Ohio
Hello all! I am hoping that I am creating a new thread in the correct area. My name is Veronica and I am an LPN in Cleveland, Ohio. I am currently going to Lakeland Community College for my ADN and I have also taken all but two of my prereqs/gen eds for Cleveland State's ADN to BSN program. I will graduate in December 2014 with my ADN. I am looking for any health care facilities in the area that would be willing to hire an RN intern for the summer of 2014. I have seen that MetroHealth hires interns, although they state they hire interns who are in a BSN program, and I am in an ADN program even though I am well on my way to having my BSN. I have been in contact with an advisor at Cleveland State since I decided to go to college. Would that help my case? Do you think MetroHealth would consider me for an intern position? or anywhere in the area for that matter? My other concern is that I am an LPN. I am worried that hospitals would consider me overqualified for an internship, since I am already a nurse. Because of this, I am also interested in summer LPN work! I currently work for a company that staffs nurses in schools, and work is only available during the school year. Does anyone have any ideas for resume building summer work for an LPN? I have long term care and school clinic nursing experience on my resume at this time. I would love to work a temporary position in a hospital or community setting in the summer to broaden my experience. Any ideas? Should I consider a staffing agency? Any advice or information is appreciated!!!
