No it was on their website. And i went to an information session..something like that that the nursing school was holding. And some lady said its direct transfer. U must get a high gpa. There is always a catch. hahaha.

I forgot to mention that at the uni I'm in is that after you have completed their 24 credit mark..its supposedly a direct transfer into their nursing program. Im saying supposedly because at this point i dont believe anything they say. So another question is that is it easy for RNs wit an associates to gain a bsn? Or is it another grueling process? the anticipation or hesitation is that i need to be a student at the cc to apply to their program. And i need to register for classes the end of Nov. And idk if ill get into those nursing classes in the uni until the end of Dec. Ahhh!! Decisions decisions.

Hello everybody. i am currently stuck in a situation. My situation is this im currently a student at a university. Before this i was a student at a community college. I didnt get into their nursing program because i didn't pass their entrance exam by two points. At this uni u need 24 creds of their uni(so u spend a full school yr at their school).so before i came here i was told i was able to take nursing classes w.o being a nursing student. Complete lie. So now for the spring semester i am waitlisted for three nursing classes. I have taken all science and general ed and extra classes..so i only need nursing classes. Now at my old cc they r no longer doing an exam..they go by a point system. I am pretty high on their point system. So my question is do i transfer back to the cc and do their nursing program? Or do i stay at the uni I'm currently at?

I am currently a student at Rutgers (newark campus). Ita not so easy and straight forward to get into their nursing program. I did almost the same thing as you. I took a bunch of classes at a community college. And for Rutgers you have to spend a yr taking their classes to meet the 24 credit. It has to be legit rutgers classes. transfer credits from other unis or ccs dont count. And taking nursing classes w.o being a nursing major is extremely hard. I tried to get into these nursing classes. And with no luck the undergrad advisor couldn't allow me to get into them. And you cant transfer in the spring. They only accept for fall term. So you have to spend a year taking random classes them transfer to their program and you will probably start as a first yr in their program.

thank you for your response. Ive decided to apply at my old CCs lpn and rn program. Hopefully i can straight into their rn program. But if it doesn't happen then hopefully i at least get into the lpn program. And yes i know im young. Im only 21. I just dont feel young. Hahaha. So i guess that's why im all worried about this. *sigh*

Thank you for your reply. I will definitely look into that. I will also talk to my volunteer supervisor about shadowing a nurse if its possible. I will definitely be doing some research on nursing programs of all kinds..mostly lpn and rn that are available in Jersey.

I also forgot to mention. I took a medical assisting class in high school. I loved it. We did vitals, became CPR and AED certified and we volunteered at different elementary schools in the town i live in. That's what also helped me continue in that nursing career dream.

The title says it all. I think I'm becoming burned out..losing that drive now. Let's go back three yrs. Fresh out of high school, didn't do great, didn't get into any nursing programs. Ended up at a private university..did ok. Transfered to a community college...did great. applied to their nursing program after a yr or so..didn't get in because I didn't reach the score needed on their entrance exam by two points. I decided to go into their university nearby nursing program. Took all science, general ed, and other courses that was posted in their nursing program curriculum of this university but took those courses at the community college. Now a student at that university. The thing I don't like is that you a certain amount of credits of their university to transfer into their nursing program. i contacted the undergrad advisor about taking some nursing programs w.o being a nursing student. to make it short: it didn't happen. Now im here stuck taking in my opinion pointless classes just to meet that credit mark. Another amazing thing about Jersey nursing programs is that you can only directly transfer into a nursing program that are held at private universities. I am not going down the private university road again. My thoughts now on this is pretty much "is this even worth it?" I feel that I'm losing that drive..that push that I used to have when I left high school. Starting to think that all this time, maybe it is a sign that this career is not for me. I don't want to be going to school forever. The only thing I want is to get into some RN nursing program. My fear is that once I do get into a program, I will realize that it isn't for me. That's my biggest fear. I feel that I am stuck and lost at the same time. I'm thinking of going back to my old CC and give their nursing program another shot. A positive thing is that I am a volunteer at a hospital and I do love it. Nursing has been all I ever wanted since I was a little girl. I used to be a sick child, so I was always in a doctor's office or hospital. So that environment I'm so used to. I try to think of another career that I would like to take other than nursing but I can't seem to find one. What do you guys advise me to do? Any advice and/or guidance will help. Anything at all. During my time at that community college, I intended to get into a university that is two blocks away..into their nursing program so I took all of the science, general ed and everything that wasn't a nursing course at the community college. I'm glad I did because it saved me a lot of money since science courses cost a lot at a university. I am currently a student at that university, but they have a stupid rule that you need certain amount of credits directly of their school to transfer into their nursing program. I contacted their undergrad coordinator to maybe take some nursing courses w.o being a nursing student. didn't happen. now im here taking courses i don't feel i need just to meet that specific credit mark. Oh and another awesome thing about Jersey nursing programs is that you can directly transfer over into a nursing program only at private universities. I'm never going back to a private university. Oo fun. Yay!! On to being a nurse. Ill be a yr after u if everything goes according to plan. Lol. And ahh ok thank you. I shall do that then. And hmm yea a mystery of where the clinical sites are at. So in turn you are going to finish in 2 years then? And ive been meaning to volunteer. How do u go about that? I wanted to volunteer at umdnj or st.michaels. And ive also been meaning to get recertified in CPR. Lol. So much to do ..so little time to do it in. Well find time to do it in. Thinking about it i think i am going to go to rutgers and do the same thing as u. Rutgers is a great school. Good credentials. Looks nice when they see that you've graduated from there Hopefully i get in. And hmm the tuition doesnt seem bad at all. Btw do you where u guys do ur clinicals?

Yea its ok. I wasn't so bummed about it when I found out. So going to Rutgers then transferring to the nursing program..is that a guaranteed admission? Btw what classes are you taking in Rutgers? Have you taken a course called "trends in health care delivery"? And so since you transferred into their program..are you at their sophomore or junior level of the program? I would be saving lots of money to just go to Rutgers. Btw how is their financial aid? Did you have to take out loans? What is their tuition? Sorry that I'm asking you so many questions.

Well the deadline for transfers is Feb 1. You have to get all your stuff in by Feb 15. So I'm cutting it really close. Oh dear!!! It seems that is what Imma have to do. Transfer to Rutgers then transfer to their nursing program. I hope that in the end I do get in because all of this work to not get in would be a damn shame. A total sadness. And yes I have applied to Essex's nursing program. I sadly did not get in. I didn't do so well on the entrance exam. I also had an advisor (before knowing i didnt get in) told me that it wasn't really worth getting into their program since you will run out of financial aid and then you still will have to find a University to get your BSN. I was going to apply again but i decided there was no point. Also I'm graduating in May wit my AS in General Science. Looking to apply to other community colleges would be also pointless since in the end I would still be in the same position as I am now..looking for a University to transfer into to get my BSN. Being the geek that I am..lol..i wrote down Rutgers nursing program curriculum. I have taken pretty much( if i was in their nursing program from the get-go) most except for one class in the first year and most of the first semester of the second year in their program. So i was thinking if i do transfer to rutgers i could just take the courses that is put under the "second year" nursing program curriculum. Hey maybe if I do go to Rutgers..i might see you around. Even though I have no idea how u look like. lol. You are practically next door from my school atm. lol.

Im actually currently a student at Essex. I am currently taking microbiology and statistics. My gpa is a 3. 6. Im trying to raise that up to a 3.8 at least. I have taken a&P 1&2, chem 101 and both psych courses. Im hoping I get in. Im cutting it really close to the application deadline. I think I'm just becoming overwhelmed with all this. Trying to find a college that will let you transfer into their nursing program.
