Navy Nursing Experience at Walte Reed
Hi all! I was recently accepted into the NCP program for the Navy and I am currently trying to decided what duty station I want. I have heard you only get three choices with Walter Reed being one of them. I went and toured Walter Reed and I thought it was absolutely amazing but I wanted to see if anyone on here could give me some insight into their experience as a nurse there. I currently live in San Diego and am trying to decide between the Naval Medical Center here or Walter Reed. Any input is greatly appreciated! Thank you!

Navy NCP FY2016 Applicants
Yes I heard there were some issues with last years applicants due to the government shutdown. I spoke with my recruiter about that and he thought things would flow a little smoother this year as long as that doesn't happen again so fingers crossed that it doesn't! I just want to know already, feels like I've been working on this forever!

Navy NCP FY2016 Applicants
I applied in the NCP application period as well. My recruiter said the board meets the first week of Oct. and decisions should be released after that, anyone heard the same thing? The wait is going to kill me...

Navy NCP Applicants: Graduating class of 2015
Thought I would post on this topic because I am also an applicant for NCP this FY. I was just notified by my recruiter that everything is good to go and now we just have to wait until Oct. for a decision. It's going to be a long month or more waiting to hear something! I would love to connect with some other NCP applicants, looks like I am graduating a little later than the rest of you but still thought I would see how everyone is holding up! Can't wait for Oct. to be here! :)

@spcp2010 I added you on Facebook and I would like to start a facebook page as soon as I am friends with a few more fellow students because I guess you need to add friends to the group before you can make it! Anyone else who is accepted my name is Amanda Rice and you can add me on Facebook, here's the link to my page cause I know there's a lot of Amanda Rices: https://www.facebook.com/amanda.brock.142 (it says Amanda Brock because that is my maiden name! :)) Good luck to everyone and I can't wait to see you all at orientation!

You should get an email within a couple weeks after the application period closes. Our application closed on July 17th I think and I got an email about my test date in early August and my essay and test date was about 3 weeks after that. So overall its a pretty good chunk of time. Hope this helps!

Yeah I one of those people that has to plan for like way ahead in the future just so I can feel less stress haha! Yeah Sharp is a really awesome hospital and beautiful like you said, I'm from Colorado so I'm going to apply at places here and in Colorado and just see what I get! Yeah I still can't decide if I want to go on and do nurse practitioner or anesthetist or not so I'm just going to be a nurse for awhile and see how I like it, I may end up doing something I absolutely love and not want to go back! Yeah that's exactly what I've heard, failing a class is very very bad! It puts you back a lot so I definitely don't want that to happen. I hope we get in too! I'm just keeping my fingers and toes crossed and waiting patiently, or maybe not so patiently! :)
