I am sorry i was rude. should all people my age, young 61 go to nursing home to die then if someone my age should not be able to do what they always wanted to do. I do have some money but would need financial assistance. I dont have any wrinkles or gray hair and my body is in tack. Our country is very snobish and i bet employers treat older employees better. I know here in St louis it is very clickish.

So do you thing i should put myself in nursing home to die. 61 is not 81. Easy for you to say that, you are young. I am a tought lady and i am very intelligent. Not every one has perfect circumstances in life. I bet i have seen and survived alot more tought obstacles than you have.

I am 61 yr young. I previously attended nursing Bsn program but had to quit due to finances and couldnt afford to take out more student loans although I did well in school. I am also unemployed. I live in St Louis area. I have never lost desire to finish my nursing degree. I have a BSN in another field. My main problem is financial. Plus I was wondering if my age is a negative factor? A family said I was too old t do anything. I am in great health etc. seems like I have lot of things against me. Any suggestions. Thank you

I am a former nursing student (had to quit due to finances) and i am 61 yr young. I have never lost my passion for nursing. I have lot of obstacles against me despite my age. Finance/not employed. I do volunteer work at local hospital but i know being volunteer wont help me find job. I do have some positive attributes like i am highly motivated, love working with people and highly intelligent. Unfort the obstacles makes it hard to be positive. How do nursing schools see someone like me, would they tell me to give up? Thanks

Hello I am a former nursing student (currently not enrolled in any classes) and i still ha ve strong desire to want to become a nurse. The reason i didnt finish my nursing degree was due to finances/ unable to continue to apply for student loans ( i was unemployed), otherwise i did well grade wise. I completed three semesters. There is a choice between a four yr nursing program or a associate degree two yr program. There is accelerated program for students who have a degree in another field already. One question does age make a difference. I am healthy, motivated fast learner. I am 60 but look younger I take care of myself. I do have a lot of obstacles, mostly financial. I would appreciate any advice you can give me.Thank you.

Hello several yrs ago, i took four semesters at local private nursing school but due to finances i had to quit, couldnt afford more student loans. I want to go back and finish my degree but my problem is finances. I am unemployed, and already have a degree in another field. I am considering two yr degree vs a bsn due to finances, any ideas on subject? Can people still get jobs with ADN? Also i was interested in scholarships, but i hear scholarships are only for people without a degree. Is that true? Thank you. Carla

Thank you all for your reply. I was considering two yr but not sure now. My main problem is trying to find job in healthcare and I am unable to find job because too many applicants for one job (St. Louis economy is terrible). My instructor said having a job in healthcare would help me a lot with confidence, my grades are good. It is frustating.

I am currently at a 4 yr nursing program and it seems so many of my fellow students are failing/not passing their demos. Are 4 yr universities more likely to fail students than 2 yr community colleges. I am debating transferring to 2 yr school.Thanks

I decided against community colleges because the waiting list is too long (as long as 2-3 yrs) and against SLU (too expensive) and BJC (too far a drive).

I am frustrated. I am currently unemployed (still looking for work after 2 yrs). If I didn't have family near by, I think I would be tempted to move out of state (TX) economy, jobwise is much better than our area. Before I can start back again, I have to get checked off on skills from Health Assessment class (had last yr and got A) before I can take pharm lab.

I can go ahead in program as long as I pass drug calculations/pharm lab. I passed the pharm part of course. I have friends now in Med-surg and several people did not pass their demos/sterile technique in lab. Not sure what will happen next.

Hello I was attending Maryville WEC program until end of Spring 2011 semester. I did fine in pharm and pathophy but did not pass drug cal test (i only missed one question), so I have to retake lab next Spring 2012. I have to wait until then despite doing well in other coures.

My advisor thought I might not fit nursing. Right now I am completing EMT training until I start back with Pharm lab.

Hello all. I am debating on whether to drop out of nursing program. I made good grades in patho and pharm this spring semester. I will be retaking pharm lab in spring because I did not pass drug cal test. (spring 2012). I had my advisor and my pharm instructor ask me about considering other fields besides nursing since I did not pass drug cal test first time. I am also unemployed and unable to find a job despite having a BS in community health and Nursing fundamentals under my belt as well as having training as Med Asst. I reside in St Louis, MO area and jobs are hard to find. I heard you really have to know someone to get a job at one of the hospitals. Is this true?, because I don't know anyone. I am starting to think something in wrong with me. I really don't know what to do. I have 2 semesters under my belt.

The third time, I only missed one question out of 20, unfort I did not pass, neither did an acq of mine who has a degree in engineering. What we have to do know is one: wait till next yr to take class or b: apply to committee to see if we can take it with the day students (i am evening student). There was several kind of iv/infusion problems, some with pt weights, others with none. I think i just got mixed up. I had all rounding and conversions and other problems right.

I am in pharmacology and patho. In pharm we have to take math cal test. We have 3 chances to pass it. (I did not pass the 2nd attempt today). I am not sure what to do. I am hestitant on taking 3rd test because I am afraid i will fail again. We have to have 100 percent on exam. I studies hard but I still did not pass. If we don't pass after 3 tries we fail the course and have to retake it next semester. I am starting to wonder if I mas meant to do nursing. Other grades are fine. I don't have a job either. I also take antidepressants. Would it be possible for people on antidepressants not to go into nursing? Thanks

Hello I wanted to ask does anyone actually have any kind of time to actually do something nice for themselves like exercise or once in a blue moon get hair done, etc. I am at school (classes plus studying) a minimum of 6 hr a day. I never have time to cook (eat fast food which i hate) which is very frustrating. I don't even work at a job. I am taking pharmacology (lab included) and pathphy. If someone has ideas I would appreciate it. I want to go back to Weight Watchers but can I afford 45 min a week out of busy schedule? Unhealthy

I think I am going to quit. I can't get this drug calculations stuff.

I did fine at clinical. I think time management is a big problem and the way I study. Everone I go to school with works and has families and still do better..I think they have something I don't.

Thank you for advice. I think I am going to drop program despite only one bad grade on test.

I was wondering how people study for pharmacology. We have lecture on pp, and lecture is also on audio so we can listen to it. Someone suggested listening to audio several times while we look at notes. How do you study?

I had fundamentals last semester and passed with a B and A minus in phy assessment. I have tried to find jobs in healthcare but no one in St. Louis, MO will hire me. I am thinking I was not meant for healthcare although I get along well with others, etc. I think nursing is not right for me. I have hundreds of dollars of books, software which I won't get much money back for, but that's life.

I don't think they have a bursing program.
