What is a CPA???
That's not it. Nursing is their first and only career pursuit. I did google it and couldn't find a clear answer. That's why I am asking on this forum. It's some kind of test I'm pretty sure.

What is a CPA???
I know a few people in ADN nursing programs and they have been talking about passing CPA's. I have no idea what those are and what their significance is. I am in a BSN program and we have nothing like that. I am just really curious! Please enlighten me. :)

Teas/GPA Questions... help pls!! :)
I just completed my first week of my first semester of a very competitive, rigorous BSN program. Congrats on your TEAS score, its a good one! Reading throught this pre-nursing forum I cannot believe the misconception that GPA is everything. IT IS NOT. I could tell you countless stories of people who entered my program with a 3.8-4.2 before me and literally failed miserably! Being able to study and retain information is not everything. Nursing requires a whole new thought process and the ability to think critically. Being able to shove information into your brain and regurgitate is not an accurate representation of your capacity to be a good nurse. All that to say. With your good TEAS score, and if you have good references, and wrote a solid essay or conducted yourself way in your interview I honestly don't see you not getting accepted. I wish you all the best! Maybe post again when you get your letter and let us know? :) I'll try to check back.

Help...prenursing student here will I get accepted with these kind of gpa's?
Honestly, if you are trying to get into any nursing program worth its salt your GPA is not going to be the end all, be all. I CANNOT tell you how many people I know that entered the nursing program I am currently in with a 3.8-4.0 and crashed and burned terribly. Your ability to study and retain information is not the only factor. They are going to be looking hard at your references, your essay or interview, and your TEAS test score. The TEAS test is specifically designed for pre-nursing students to make a determination to their ability to think and perform as a proficient nurse. The whole entire package is important. DO NOT get hung up on your GPA. Yes, it is important but it is not everything. A 4.0 is not going to do you any good if you have lousy references or a poorly put together/less then impressive essay, etc...Good luck to you!

CHEMISTRY.
I hated Chemisty. I had a horrible teacher AND I took it during the summer as an accelerated course. I had taken it back in highschool but remembered nothing. I remember sitting exactly where you were and feeling so unprepared. My advice: Do all the supplemental homework to the best of your ability, pay close attention in lab and get all the lab points available. That way even if you don't do super well on the tests you are still likely to make a B. Good luck!

Why do you want to be a nurse?
I found this quote on a nursing student's blog. I thought it was incredibly profound and also at least for me speaks to why I chose nursing. "Everyone has things they want to do better and worse, potentials they've not yet achieved, dreams they've not yet realized. But...when I'm standing there in the hospital with my coat and clipboard... I feel like who I am is both amplified and simplified. I feel like nothing is being wasted." My heart has always been to help people and I feel like nursing gives us the greatest capacity to do so. That is literally our entire purpose of existence. So many other careers start out with good intentions but over time evolve into something else. Nursing is one of the few things I can see that if you choose it, will still empower you to pour yourself out for the sake of others and touch their lives directly.

First Week of Nursing School!!!!
Oh my word. My first week of an extremely competitive and rigorous BSN nursing program is coming to a close and I have so much going on inside my head. In 4 short days I have made contact with so many people who have told me first hand horror stories of entering the program with a 3.5-4.0 and then flunking out. One girl said and I quote "I have never failed like I failed in that program." I am currently taking my main clinical course with several students who are retaking it because they failed it the previous semester! I know that I need to block out all of that negativity. I know that people graduate from this program, so it is possible. But in spite of that, doubt is creeping in. Do I have what it takes? Just reading over the material so far has made me feel inadequate and ill-prepared. I'm sure this is normal but I am normally really confident in myself and my abilities so it's quite disconcerting for me to feel this way. So basically the game plan is to take it ONE DAY AT A TIME. To breathe deeply, believe in myself and trust that I can do what I need to do to succeed in this program. You are either your greatest enemy or greatest advocate right? Right.
