  1. Anyone having any luck searching for book rentals online that are fairly priced?
  2. Hey guys! My brother-in-law is a CPR instructor. He is willing to teach a group of us and get us certified. Any body wanna join? Anyone know of a good place we could get together as a group?
  3. There's no way Im taking Patho in the summer. That seems crazy. I'll be taking it in the fall. Congrats to all that got in! I look forward to meeting everyone.
  4. Hi!! Thanks for the info. Can't wait for Fall! How's your first semester going?
  5. From what I'm told, the first semester is 3 days a week but a lot of studying bc of patho. The clinicals start at the second half of the semester on Fridays. I figured I would just email F this summer just to see what I need to do if anything. I saved all our emails about deferment just to be safe. She said I'd be notified when time to register but I just want to be safe. Let me know if you hear anything from her and I'll do the same!
  6. It's a totally different application process this time so who knows! One of you guys should email F. I'm sure she would give you all a timeframe. Joanna- do you plan on sending them an email sometime soon? I assume they will just contact us since we are automatically in for Fall but I didn't ask F when we last spoke.
  7. I think you'll be just fine. Even though you're TEAS is average in comparison to other applicants, you GPA is stellar!
  8. I'm not sure what they'll use. Good luck you guys! I remember how stressful the application process was for me. Can't wait to meet some of you guys in the fall!
  9. Oh, I know people who haven't gotten in with less than stellar stats as well, but they rocked the interview. Then I have a friend with a 3.8 and 87 on her TEAS that never even got an interview. That is my point. Up until know, people were given the chance to show who they are in person at the interview. I'm confused on what they are going to base the application process on now.
  10. Has everyone talked to F about your scores? I went to her before applying just to be sure that I didn't need to take classes over and she gave me feedback on my chances. Since the average TEAS score is an 86ish, I would think about retaking it if you didn't get in the high 80s. The negative to taking away the interview process is they know NOTHING about you except your stats. With as many people that apply (from what I hear, 1000 per semester) if your scores aren't VERY competitive, it's going to be tough to stand a chance without extremely high scores. By no means am I trying to be discouraging, I'm just giving my honest opinion. Talk to you advisors! If you made low 80s on the TEAS, retake it! Chances are you'll do better. Im really interested to see the types of people that are accepted in the fall. Taking away the interview has to narrow the field to only top students (grade wise). I've met many people along the way that have phenomenal grades, but don't seem to be nurse material. I don't understand why they are taking away the opportunity to see the character of the applicants instead of just how they appear on paper.
  11. Good luck to everyone! When are you all suppose to have your applications turned in?
  12. Thanks. I studied intently for about a month. :) you would have no problem getting into Mercer. They accept about 25% of the people that apply. You have great grades and an 81 is not bad at all. You may as well apply to both and see what happens! Are they making you guys write an essay or anything since there's no interview?
  13. That was the benefit to an interview. I know the average is an 86 but I've heard of people getting admitted with lower scores. How's you GPA ( if you don't mind me asking)?
  14. That's what I've heard. It could be good or bad. Good for the ones that feels good about their grades and maybe don't interview so well (me); however, it could be bad for people who maybe don't have great scores but really shine in person. I guess it just depends on where you stand on all that. The interview was definitely nerve-racking but they were very nice people. It wasn't bad.
  15. I honestly don't. However, I do remember it was not from ATI. My friend also simply downloaded a generic TEAS help app, not the same one as I and he found it helpful. Good luck! If you study hard, it really isn't that hard. I had about 4 deductive reasoning questions on mine which I didn't remember there being in any of the prep material. So, if you are lacking in that area, brush up. They weren't hard questions but you really have to pick the info apart. Make sure you brush up on physical science, mitosis vs meiosis, anatomy. Have you taken Micro? The science part was definitely the most difficult but still totally do-able. I found the rest of the exam quite easy compared to all the prep work. Let me know if you have more questions.
  16. I'm doing traditional. Do all my recommendations! I recently talked a friend of mine into getting the app and doing all those things I did and he got an 83 with only about a week of studying. Not too bad! I studied for a LONG time! I started studying months in advance.
  17. If you do decide to get the practice tests that ATI website offers in addition to the booklet, be advised, they are really hard! I was told to expect about 10 points higher on the actual exam than you make on the online practice test and that was true for me.
  18. I think there will be a personality test in lieu of the interview. They had all the interviewees from my group take a mock personality test to use as a basis for future testing. I wasn't concerned (at first) with English but I definitely brushed up quite a bit when I began taking practice tests and making poor grades on the English/language portion. The math was very easy to me. I expected it to be much harder but I suppose it depends on your affinity for all things arithmetic. I bought the ATI practice book with the two practice exams. I bought it straight from their website. It's pricey but I found it beneficial. I also downloaded a TEAS practice app on my iPad and took the tests over and over until I had them memorized. Additionally, I read the TEAS guide cover to cover. More than once. Hhaha. And I took the practice tests in the back of the practice book numerous times.
  19. Also, rumor around campus is that the interview process is being phased out. That's one less thing to stress about!
  20. Hi chartreuse! I actually applied and got in to the traditional BSN program for Spring '14 but I asked to be deferred to Fall semester. I was thinking of starting a thread for us so thanks for doing it for me! I am automatically in for Fall but it will be great to be apart of everyone else's journey! Plus, perhaps I can be helpful since I have been through the process. I think 3.5 is good but every little bit helps. Definitely do exceedingly well on the TEAS so you'll stand out. I believe the average is around mid 80's. Have you began studying for the TEAS yet? I could tell you how I prepared if you'd like. Looking forward to the fall!!
  21. I explained my circumstances to F and she and a committee agreed to let me defer to Fall '14. No, I do not have to go through any of the application/interview process again. I'm automatically in. I'm pretty bummed, too, but it was the right move for me. Best of luck guys. I'm excited for y'all!!
  22. Hey guys. I decided to defer my enrollment until Fall '14. I was looking forward to starting next semester and meeting all you guys but I needed to wait. Good luck to everyone!!
  23. The letter stated that transfers could register at orientation which is December 6.
