I live in steel creek area in Charlotte North Carolina I moved here from metro Atlanta area..I need a job quick. I currently work a little side job part-time that I took why I waited on my nursing license which I have now. But I need help if you have any ideas pleaselet me know. I have set up a facebook,twitter and linked in and craigslist page I am trying to sell my self..I have plenty of mds, long-term care experience,rehab,forensics,mental health,and developmentally disabled. Well thanks for the continued replies when you are a new nurse well 3 years of experience but not with this type of issue it helps to have someone else that may have the answer. I do appreciate all of your help I will sleep better tonight. But some one did ask me if the DON spoke with the other nurse that I can't say. As far as the DON I am evidently an idiot I should have left a long time ago. She is so cruel that when my mother was dying I called out on a saturday to go out of state ( never missed a day of work)they had called a code on my mother. At the time I worked mon-fri 1st shift well the upcoming monday I called the facility to speak to her she did not speak to me her secretary did and I was told if I did not come back to the facility to fill out FMLA papers I would have no job so I had to leave one state and make the 8hr drive back to the job to feel out FMLA paperwork. They would not fax it to me. My mother did'nt die then but she did 6 months later. (But I guess I should have noticed the signs in the DON then. I am the one that when they had no help I stayed late, came in early, came when they had no help and when my mom was about to die I got chewed out on the phone. Wow I guess this is all an eye opener to me.

Thanks all of you that have sent replies in thus far. Yes I have liability insurance. Yes she does always talk to me badly. Feel like a child getting scolded by a parent. My best friend a nurse told me I should quit that the job has to much drama. I do not want to quit I like my residents and would miss them if I left. And I also know that they don't have enough help we have lost over 40 nurses in the last year and a half. Mostly because of the DON. All the new nurses that just started said they are going to quit. So they will not have any help? I do not want to quit. I have been there over 3 years what to do?

what do you think?? i got off work at seven a.m. did my count handed off the keys and went home. i received a call at twelve a.m. stating that the drawer was short 2 narcs. i did my count with the on coming nurse for the next shift. when i left the count was accurate. how could it be short after i left and went home to bed? what do i do now the don stated she doesnt know what she is going to do then she stated she was going to report it to state. then she went back to say she did'nt know what she was going to do. should i go ahead and get a lawyer. i mean what do i do. she was very hateful to me on the phone she always is but the hate fullness and the threating are old now. what would you do?

Please I have found help for us Excellsior students. I stumbled upon this a week ago, you may already know about it but here is the good news! 1. go to Apple - iTunes - 2.when you get to the space for the search area(upper right area on itunes page) type in nursing 3. when you get to the nursing screen go to right side of page it will say apple store results scroll all the way to the bottom of the right side you will then see(view more results in itunes) click it 5.scroll down the page until you get to itunesU (for university). once their look to your right you will see a nurse (basic nursing theory nursing 3952 then under that it will say seattle pacific university. click on the nurse in the picture. 6.This will get you started at the beggining of what ever class you need go through the website. Seattle Pacific University also has advanced pathophysiology it is awesome you will learn so much. Hope this helps a little bit. I am an audio visual learner who goes to excelsior with adhd(no excuse just telling you. if it helps me it can help you), so many colleges on there for nursing you will receive the help you need here. Wow my employer already does the verbal warnings and all of the above. My employer is a bully she has never been fired all though she has had over 50 complaints to the corporate office. Karma

Thank You all so much for your replies I did think aout the lawyer thing or contacting the corporate office. I am off this weekend because of a class. But I do feel that nothing will be done. Monday I will contact the administrator. Then the corporate office If they do nothing Iwill then go to the corporate office. I do not feel comfortable working with them.

(Continued) I told the D.O.N. This is enough I am tired of being treated like this. Tired of them direspecting me. When I ask Them to do something They will not ,the list just goes on and on. I have been dealing with the attitude for six months. They want to tell me what to do not vice versa. And I have also been dealing with "you americans are lazy!" it is always this american this or that I told my supervisor I cannot help it I am from The U.S. To make a long story short next they said they wanted to talk to the D.O.N my supervsor asked them Me not around about what? They told her "I can't say right now I have alot to say I want to say it at one time." Now little did I know that it would get worse before it got better. By the end of the shift. One of them had walked up to my cart and stated "That is why I like my country. You americans are liars what I would do to you If we were not in this building." She then went picked a piece a paper up by the nursing station and walked down the hall. I then went to tell my supervisor that she was threatening me. Then the D.O.N called the D.O.N Evidently told her to tell the cna to clock out and go home. And if she did'nt leave they would have the police escort her off the property. Now This was a sunday keep in mind I only work weekends. When the next saturday came they were all quiet. Sunday came and my supervisor told me the D.O.N had told her they had made allegations against me well only two of the three. I asked her allegations about what? She said they stated I make them do treatments. Give residents medicine and that I told them If someone falls on the floor put them back in the bed. Also That I want them to watch the hall while I take a break and leave in my car for and hour. (Thank god they have cameras in the facility and I never leave the premises got proof for that) So i asked her then what does this mean. I am just supposed to investigate. Now I was told that the majority of my chain of command thinks they are disgruntel(sp) Employees. I am confused all of this because they were in the dining room when they should have been on the hall?

Hello, I recently had to write my cna's up because it was near lunch time for the residents and they all were in the dining room sitting down. I was at the nursing station when I heard one of my bed alarms go off. I went down the hall running (literally) because I didnt need anybody to fall. Where I am employed if someone falls we have to come to work on friday which is my day off and meet with the falls prevention team at 2 pm. Anyways so while I am down the hall I have two call lights going off also so I am running to answer all. Now after all that confusion I go look for my cnas nobody is on the hall just to find out they are in the dining room sitting down congregating. I say"Nobodys on the hall. I need someone on the hall." They look at me crazy and continue to sit their. I then went and got my supervisor. Who went to the dining room and it took her a few minutes then they came to the hall. She infact told me to write them up and I did. Well after that all h%$ broke loose. We brought each of them in one by one. And they were mad. When we were done the male cna got up in my face as I was coming out of the office and yelled at me in the hall "I don't appreciate what you did. You did not have to tell the supervisor."(Really he said her name but I won't list them here.)He would not even let me get a word in edge wise and then told me as he walked off "You americans are always trying to document something." What does he mean by that I am asking you? Animosity was brewing they had went to all cnas in building and told of course their side of the story. I then at my cart heard one the cnas say. "Well you know what you have to do about that? Get them after work when they want to get you in trouble." Now is it me or is that intimidating. I then contacted my D.O.N.

specs:Hello, If you took your social sciences ie.(life span developmental psychology core and sociology core) at a local college and not excellsior what classes did you take? I am trying to take as many of my prerequites that I can at the local college to save money. Before transfering to excellsior. Any help is greatly appreciated!:loveya:

Well I think it is great I am originally from Kentucky and it does not matter what school you go to when you graduate in Kentucky you have to do 200 or 250 preceptorship hours. I have no problem with that it beats waiting to get into a program. It really depends on your situation. I had been in school before and had to stop to take care of a sick mother. my mother died july2009, and this works better for me so if I have any emergency with family I can stop. And start back up. But this is great and I am taking all of my pre reqs at a local college. I do already have some. I am now doing this with 2 other friends. And the rest of my classes at excelsior. I have a good friend I was in the military with who lives in New york she graduated from excelsior in a year. Took her boards and passed so it can be done it is up to you. Do not go to Georgia they don't pay crap I live in a town called newnan 35 min from atlanta the facilities in that area pay $13.25, $14.00, they don' t pay anything at all. Peachtree city georgia pays going rate $16.00. Greenville georgia pays $15.50 this is all to start. I hear they pay more close to Atlanta but who wants to drive back and forth with gas being $3.25 a gallon! I should have stayed in kentucky louisville my friends make way more than I do and the cost of living is cheaper they can afford to live!

I started on sunday night an 11-7 that place was dirty and the young lady that was orientating me kept saying bring someone with you when you get your narcs they have been having alot come up missing. The LTC iwent to constantly has an ad in the paper. The DON did not even give me a tour she just asked me if I could go to the bathroom. They have not gave me a schedule I just know I work wed, thu, fri this week. They have no direct deposit. I live 30 min away. Drive does not bother me. They have mandatory meetings at 1pm and 2pm so if you work night shift you have to come or you get wrote up. Now if I just got off at 7am I have to go back to the meeting at 1pm or 2pm. Then go home and come back at 11pm does that make since. I came from a facility in another state and they made their meetings for all shifts. They never have enough help and my first day they had 2 nurses quit. I was scared to use the bathroom their. As soon as I left I ran to the gas station. I got the first 3 jobs I applied for this I took first because they called me first was I and idiot or what. The other facility I came from was so clean you could eat of the floor not that I would but you get my point. I got on PRN at a LTC that the hospital owns I love that place so clean oh my!!!! The DON offered me a 3-11 but I could not do it cuz of my girls. They hardly have people quit that is what I want. The other facility offered me an 7-3 and a 11-7 I am waiting on them to finish my background check etc. you know the routine. SO TELL ME WHAT WOULD YOU DO??????

I took test 4 times !go get petersons nclexpn read it cover to cover. This last time I did that and did about 25 questions a day when you have took it as many times as I have you have done thousands of questions good luck it is the THE BOOK IS THE BOMB!

Well i AM glad that is over. My test cut of monday at 85 and I had a nervous breakdown on 85 south . I called my fiancee to tell him that I failed he was supportive and told me to get it together. Well I logged on yesterday got my results and I passed. Yea!!! I took my test at 3:30 p.m. I was well awoke and relaxed. What really helped me more than anything else I tried was a book it was a yellow nursing book I got from the library i think it was petersons pn nclex that book broke it down for me and i read it cover to cover. I also used all the saunders cds I could for questions I have done over 10,000 I know but it is over today went to 3 places to apply today and had 2 job offers so I am happy but when I get to my RN I already know what and how I am gonna study. I do have dyslexia but I never told anybody at school ,family anything I just new I was never gonna give up. AND I DID NOT NEED ANYBODYS PITTY PARTY FOR A LEARNING DISABILITY. Everybody has one thing or another going on with them. This was not gonna be my excuse on why I did not pass!! Glad to get over all the stress. GOOD LUCK TO ALL THOSE THAT TAKE THE TEST MORE THAN ONCE YOU CAN PASS!!!!!!!

Hey I have friends that took their pn exams and it cut off in the 160's they all passed. Remember the more they give you the better are your chances of passing! Good Luck! Especially when it did not cut off at 85. What did you study!

Well I have failed the NCLEX for the fourth time. I had a nervous breakdown at first because I was so sure that i passed lucKily my husband was off and we did lunch. I must be honest and say when I began to get upset and then made a margarita. He walked in the door and got me under control. I have tried everything that you can for this test for about an hour their I was gonna give up now I am about to get back to the drawing board. I guess I can't give up when my significant other is telling me " What can I do to help you study?" So i figured I better get it together! So i pulled my lip up off the floor dried my eyes now I am at it again. Should I take a KAPLAN Class I have tried something different each time. Because what I did prior did not work you name it I have done it. HELP HELP HELP WHAT DO I DO NOW!

Dont give up I am taking mine for the 4th time nothing to brag about but I know I will pass this time!

Well yea I have failed 3 times with scores of 86, 205, and 205. This time I will pass. I tried Kaplan and now that I am done with that I have been working on the saunders cd new edition. Also I graduated in march 05. But no more anxiety here my cousins girlfriend is an RN and she helped me out with some dvds she had in nursing school. From ati. They are excellent. I study my saunders cd 1 hr. in the morning and 1 hr. at night. Last time I took it I over studied used too many NCLEX books. Now I am focused and ready to knock it out the box I have a positive attitude because I am not a quiter wish me luck next month.I am focused and next month is time to shine. P.S. (1st time I took it I had anxiety attack when I left testing center. Got that under control with some Celexa! LOL!!!!)

I too am in your boat I have took my test pn 3 times. I have studied mosbys,saunders and now I amd doing the Kaplan online questions. My scores are not high though I am onlu scoring 60 to 70% I am at a lost for words on what to do?

I took my test wed nov 29 and got my results today. I failed again. My first test stopped at 86. 2nd at 205. 3rd at 205. I have studied the whole mosby's cd, the entire saunders cd, nclex made incredibly easy. And Have a Kaplan book and cd. This next time I guess I will only use saunders. Any Ideas I have to wait 3 months before I can take it again. Thank goodness I went to school in Georgia I have 5 years to pass I am not giving up I have a positive attitude. Back to the drawing board!!!!I appreciate any help!!! Smile

Hey everybody I am about to take my test again for the third time at the end of the month. I have been studying saunders and kaplan. I feel like I am burned out on studying now. I finished school march 05 took my first test may 05 and my second june 06. I have a positive attitude but I am burned out on these questions. But I still continue to study. Any Ideas on what I may be doing wrong?
