  1. Hey all I hope your 1st semester is going great!!!! I wanted to hear from some people at North and Allegheny. I am currently in the Boyce fast track and am thinking about transfering to an other evening program. I am leaning towards North campus, but I wanted to know if anyone had any input. I saw on the schedules that North is in class for less time. Is there more of an online component? Also what are clinical sites and how have you enjoyed them? Any information or input would be great.
  2. I would call CCAC and ask what their protocol is as well as call certified profile and see how they would like to document the meds. If you have supporting documentation of the prescriptions then there may not be an issue, but I would call and ask. As for clinical, we will have it the first week. During registration the woman did say that we should have clinical after having lab, but they were pretty disorganized and didn't have enough clinicals open by the end of the "lottery" system for this to happen. So some people will have clinical before lab the first week.
  3. Where is says "titer" they want the actual number of the titer. For example my varicella titer was 2.80 so in the titer box you would put 2.80. Then depending on what you titer is, you will know if you immune or not.
  4. Yes there are. Under the specific headings you can download forms. For the drug test you click on it and then you get an email if your pdf to print out. You have to expand each individual criteria to get the information and the forms. So for fingerprint if you expand "date registered with cogent" there should be a link to resister and get your fingerprints done. All you have to do for those is type in the date that you registered and the date that you got your fingerprints done. Then when your scans come back you have to upload them to the site. For PA clearances, under the first option "download the clearance form" there will be a little blue link that says download form or something like that and you click it and it should open as a pdf. This is the the same as the fingerprint where you have to enter dates that you sent them out. The clinical requirements section is a little trickier, there are 2 or 3 forms that you have to download depending on your flu shot. The first option says "nursing student health examination form" When you expand that option near the bottom of the description is has a blue link that says nursing student health examination form. When you click on the link the file with download. This is your physical form and what you will use to show that you have tetorifice and other vaccinations. The other form is under the TB test tab and the last form is under influenza tab, but you only need this if you opt out of getting a flu shot. I hope that helps and wasn't too confusing.
  5. Does anyone know what text books we need?
  6. I just checked my professors and one is rated horribly at CCAC but great at IUP, so I think it is going to be a toss up. My other instructor isn't listed.
  7. I think that was interesting. I ended up getting option 5 M,W with Saturday morning clinical. I hope you all got what you were looking for. I wish that this was more of an orientation than just registration, but I think there is another orientation meeting before classes start.
  8. Hey! I'm Allie. I'm really hoping for options 4 or 5, but I really want the Sunday morning clinical.
  9. I'm liking the #4 or #5 options. That would probably be the best for my schedule.
  10. Has anyone received a packet yet? I sent in my acceptance via mail and I'm super paranoid that it didn't get delivered or something. Also for those of you going to Boyce Fast Track which class options are you trying to get?
  11. Congrats to everyone who got accepted!!! I just got my acceptance to Boyce Fast Track!!!
  12. This wait is driving me crazy!!! Last years applicants had to have their decision in by the 19th. I wonder how long its going to take to hear something.
  13. Nothing yet. I was hoping to see something by the end of last week.
  14. The extra points are for A&P1 A&P2 and Micro. If you get an A in those courses on the first try then add .75 per A to your gpa. If you get a B on the first try add .5 to your gpa per grade. So if you have a 3.7 and you got A's in A&p1 and 2 then your gpa with added points will be 5.2. Online in the admission info packet they have a more detailed system of extra points so you can check there.
  15. You should be good with 3.8 plus added points. When I applied last semester I had a 3.0 from my undergrad and I had only a&p1 done so I had a 3.75. The cut off last semester for a place was a 3.9 (I think) so with your added points you would have made the cutoff. Now this semester may be slightly more or less competitive, but I would definitely not get discouraged with your gpa where it is.
  16. I have a 4.0 with ccac classes and with added points I should have a 5.5.
  17. I am getting so anxious waiting. If anyone gets a letter please post!
  18. Nothing yet. I think its still too early to hear anything.
  19. @mrsralph Do you know anyone in or anything about the Boyce fast track program. I am trying to get information about semester terms and when breaks are.
  20. I feel your pain all too well. I also got denied for last spring due to gpa. This time around I'm going in with a 4.0 at ccac and 5.5 with added points. I'm really hoping for the fast track but after my denial last year, I'll take any spot. I completely agree that its crazy to only take into account gpa. I completed my BS degree from Pitt in microbiology and I think its completely unfair to judge my B in organic chemistry against an A in an into chem class. But I guess it doesn't matter what I think. I wish everyone the best of luck!
  21. I'm not actually sure. I was wondering the same thing. But I think that it still stays on file with the registrar and when you apply you fill out a request again to have the registrar send over all your transcripts.
  22. Hello All. With applications for the fall nursing admissions opening on Jan 15, I wanted to make a thread for everyone applying. I applied for the spring 2014 cohort but my gpa wasn't high enough. This time I am hoping to get my first choice of program. Who else is applying and what are your stats? Good luck to everyone!
