  1. No. I am 47 and will finish my ADN in May 2015. There are a couple of older students in my class.
  2. Thanks for your reply. I have been looking for a nursing assistant or Health Aid/Technician opening at one of the VA's but no positions are ever advertised. Not sure how I can get in. I thought about trying to volunteer to make some contacts; however, with my work schedule and nursing school, It's almost impossible. I will keep trying.
  3. I currently work at a hospital an a nursing assistant and will start nursing school fall 2013. I am prior Air Force Active and Reserve (22yrs total). I know that I want to work in the federal system (VA, Active, Reserve, etc.) once I finish my ADN/BSN. The military age waivers for direct commissions change every year so I won't know if that's an option until I finish school. I am trying to decide if it would be of benefit to work at a VA hospital as a nursing assistant to improve my chances of getting a nursing position once I graduate. Any suggestions?
  4. Unfortunately, there any many new grads that had to relocate to other states in order to get a job. I am in Greenville NC, Vidant Medical Center, and we have many new nurses from other states because they could not find jobs.
