Hi Kareenkapoor, The program at UAB does not allow you to stop with just your RN. You are not awarded a degree after phase 1. You have to continue on and get your MSN. There are many options including health education and that would be a waste of time. If you are interested in obtaining your CRNP then this program is the way to go. It is very intensive but after 1 year you are licensed and you go to work while you work on your masters. There are many people who already have masters in the current cohort and have in the previous ones also. I would recommend that you shadow a nurse, shadow a NP, shadow a nurse educator and see if this is remotely what you want to do. Several people quit 8 weeks to a semester in and they are out $8000 for tuition. In regards to the original topic 61 people were accepted this year and they want to expand the program to 75.
