I got my call yesterday too that I was accepted! Congratulations to all of you! I got into Shelby campus. I hear Shelby fills more faster than Jefferson. They also asked me if I wanted Clanton or Shelby and I chose Shelby b/c it is much more convinient for me. Yay, can't wait to meet you all at the Shelby campus!

Mel, thank you so much for the info! I definitely brushed up on these topics in my essay, but I have re-read my essay and went over my resume so I can go into specifics. I have questions that I'm practicing with as well - kind of a mock interview. Do you know how long the interviews last? Are you currently in the program? I am currently interested in the CNL route.

BKC, yes I applied and got an email for an interview last week! So excited but nervous! I want in the program so badly! Do you have any ideas about what they ask in the interview? I wonder how many get interviews this time and how many they will accept? So very excited :)

Good afternoon! I am currently enrolled at Jeff State's RN program, but I want to transfer to UAB for a BSN. Does anyone know if I can transfer to UAB's school of nursing even if I'm enrolled in the RN program at Jeff State and currently taking nursing classes there? I just started in the fall but would like to transfer if possible. If any of you know if this can be done, please let me know! Thank you!:)

BKC you have so much information! Thanks for posting all this helpful info. :) I do have question and am wondering if you know the answer to it. My friend and I are looking to apply this month to AMNP for the spring and we both went to an informational meeting about the GPA. We were told they look at overall GPA and has to be a 3.0 but then another gilr told us that they would look at overall GPA OR the last 60 hours of college coursework including the pre-reqs in those 60 hours. It would be wonderful if they only looked at last 60 hours, my overall GPA is barely there haha! :) Do you know if they look at overall or last 60 hours or if they look at overall only? I'm excited about the program in the spring! I hope I can get in haha! :)

Autiger, I see you got into the program for this summer! CONGRATULATIONS!! I know you feel wonderful about getting in!! I am applying for 2012 entry and was wondering if you could give me more information on the program, your thoughts, opinions, etc. I REALLY want to get into the program next year. My only concern is my low GPA (I've maintained a 4.0 in pre-reqs and will be done in the fall with 1 more course once I finish these last 2 this summer). That's great news!! Just out of curiosity, what does your last name end with? I had class today and one of the girls that also applied said they were going down the list in alphabetical order. Mine ends in "R" so I'm just keeping my fingers crossed! I'm sure you did great on the interview! I hope you hear good news in a few weeks :)

I'm not sure -- when I applied, it said something like they were proud to annouce the program, but I don't know if it's been done in the past or not. If they had that many applicants, than maybe it has beend one in the past.

Yeah, I figured there were a lot of applicants and I hear it's a pretty competitive spot to get. Thanks for letting me know that. Hopefully we all hear something soon! Fingers crossed :) Good luck to each of you

I see many of you all got accepted into the AMNP program this year at UAB. Congratulations to you all! I'm curious if any of you know approximately how many are taken each year and how many apply? I've heard as many as 300 apply but only 60 get in. I've also heard only approximately 120 apply and 50 get in. I really want to get into the program for 2012 and I was just curious what I was up against. If anyone knows, I'd love to know. Thank you! :)

hotcocoa, Thank you so much for replying! I had pretty much given up on anyone replying to this after about a month of not hearing anything. I'm happy to hear that GPA isn't the #1 thing they look for. I know it won't be easy, but I'm currently taking the pre-reqs now and have maintained A's, so hopefully I can keep that up. I guess it really makes a difference when you really know what you want to do with your career. You answered everything I was really wanting to know. I did have another question: Do you think you'll go the CNL route, or do you think you'll go the NP route? Just curious how that works within their program. Monah86, yes, we have to keep our head up high. A year from now, we may be sitting next to each other in the AMNP program!! Wouldn't that be a wonderful day?! I know, it's good to know that even though my bachelor's isn't in nursing, it will count towards getting that Masters I want! I do currently work and we are basically living on one salary (my husband's) so we can save as much money as possible for school purposes. I just know this is what I want, so I'm trying to do everything I can to make sure I have a shot at this program! :)
