I am also 30 years old and starting nursing school in Spring...I am beyond excited and somewhat nervous. I'm a stay at home mom so this will be a complete life change for me. I have been working on pre req for a long while now... Stopped a few times to have babies etc. But got my A.A and now going to get my ASN . I was born to be a nurse and I'm so excited to be able to fulfill my dream! Congrats everyone and good luck!!!

@boragirl... The lady said mid December... But never gave me a date...our fin aid is supposed to be available on Monday...so I will be there in hopes that the books are available. At least the main Ines for now... @spangle they said no crocs. Has to be all white sneaker like shoes.

@spangle. Yea that's what I am saying... Like a semester or twobago that happened...my friend that just graduated said same thing...they are constantly changing the books which is weird to me... So that's why I didn't take the chance on a almost $200 book... But that doesn't mean it will happen...just going to wait...since I got my FA now...our aid will be available on the 8th...so I will be there first thing in the morning...gives me a little more than a month to study...but I'm gonna buy the calculating dosages from amazon... So no worries... And as previous posted she said that they just changed the book...so it most likely won't be changing..but I'd rather save my money and let my aid pay for it...

Well update!! Just got awarded my financial aid!! Thank goodness!!! I guess me going yesterday made the difference... So yay school is def happening...excited!!!

OK great! Yea went to campus today...got my parking decal...they are available now for 2015 BTW. Got a new id finally...they were laughing at my 2002 ID..lol...went to book store to buy fundamentals book and I swear I saw them on floor in back corner...first she said they didn't have them...then I said I think that's the book back there and then they said that they haven't gotten the right numbers yet for courses so the books can possibly change. She said I can buy it but that I couldn't return it if it ends up wrong. So I'm gonna wait...didn't want to take the chance with a almost $200 book. I really need to start studying... And they said can't get them til mid December! Leaving us like a month to study. Anyone can help me out with a copy of the chapters we need to study or PDF file or something? I asked my friend and she doesn't have her books anymore. Please and thank you! Oh and I talked about my FA and they said everything is still being processed... So I guess you got lucky with getting yours processed fast...this is killing me!lol also found out that for summer term I will have to pay out of pocket or get a loan since my aid won't roll over to use in summer...so that blows!!

Just emailed a financial aid specialist. So let's see what they have to say. If anything at all. I'm starting to get really worried. Then to top it off Celena Lie just emailed me about my compliances and that to make sure I am going to be able to take a seat in spring. I'm sure that email went out to everyone but just has me scared. So fingers still crossed. Also..still have to do my finger printing... Do any of you guys know where I can go to get them done? And that $190 we paid covers the cost right? Thanks!!

When did you put in your appeal? I didn't mines on the 7th right after orientation... And it still says graduated. I really hope they approve me. I don't remember it taking this long. I hears back within like 3/days last time. I'm getting scared.

Yea I did the appeal... Wrote up what I needed to explain...and got signature from nursing dept. Last time I appealed it only took a few days...although I know its supposed to take longer but still...u know I qualify I'm just wondering if they will approve me or not this time around...ugh so stressful!!

I still haven't heard anything from financial aid since I had to appeal since I already have my A.A and over 150% . so still waiting and didn't want to take the chance for last min stuff. Just left the uniform store...they didn't seem to have a lot of the woman's tips left...but they have lots of pants. I have to go back to pick up wed so thcause they have to put ribbon and VC logo on pants. I was d how much it was to embroider my lab coat and the said $7... My husband just surprised me with buying me a stethoscope.. A pink littmann. I'm excited! I forgot I have to buy scissors and a light pen ..I guess I will look on eBay sometime soon. Oh and I need to get nude granny panties...cause man those pants are super see through!! Hahah!

@alichona In my case I need a new one. Mine is from 2002!!!! And the I'd has changed a lot since then. So unfortunately I need a new one...whomp! I am buying my dosage book online too. Found it for $15 cheaper. But the fundamental one I guess I will wait since I can't buy in bundle anywhere that's cheaper than Valencia. At least I haven't found one yet. Maybe I will get lucky! Lol

@nurse I haven't got my books yet. I am waiting to buy them beginning of Dec b/c that's when my husband gets paid. If you go on Valenciacollege.edu and go under current student you can find the bookstore link. Then follow it to west campus store and click nursing 1021c I believe...nursing 1. And all of our books will show up...and it will show pics of the books and ISBN numbers. Hope you can fig it out. I need to study too...but no mo eye yet so have to wait till beginning of Dec either way... Blah! Lol

I don't think your IDs have to come from a certain campus. But at west campus its in the student development building... Wherever that is. I forgot where exactly its located...they have changed so much and I'm never on campus so can't point exactly where its located. I need to go get my ID also... Might go next week.

@spangle they said that everyone needs a new ID. I mean I need one anyways cause I have one from back when I went straight out of highschool over 10 years ago!! I look like a ghost in it! Lol... I will be getting the fundamentals book and the doasge book. But have to get from school cause of the access codes. And I don't wanna spend extra money to buy book then but code separate. All other books I can but elsewhere. You can get all the ISBN numbers online campus bookstore. Line up the names with the names they gave us. You will be fine. I need to start studying...lots to study to get ahead of the game! Let's do this! Lol

@boragirl Was good meeting you on Saturday. Sucks that it was at the end...lol... Not sure if anyone else was there on sat from here. And what about Fridays orientation... Lots of info. But I feel better now that I've been to orientation. Need to go back to campus to get a new id and still have to do my finger printing and drug test oh and background check. And I'm done. Parking decals for 2015 won't be available til after finals they said. Don't forget to get those cause you don't want parking tickets on your account. Need to go buy my uniform at the uniform store and put in order for lab kit. But I'm waiting for my fin aid to go in. Oh and if you didn't notice at the uniform store they said that if you're awarded financial aid that to contact them and let them know so they can verify it and you can have financial aid pay for your uniform. OK well if anyone wants to exchange fb etc lmk. Yay!!

So uber excited!!!! Have my clothes already picked out...have lots to do tomorrow too after orientation... Hi alichona! Awesome that you will be doing the concurrent program! I haven't seen a FB page. And I just looked and didn't see anything for our class shall I say. I'm not good at starting those things so if Antone is good at it or if you are maybe you can start one. And I think we will be graduating class of Summer 2016. Hi jacquisosa! I just looked at Valencias site and noticed the class is full for Nov 8th. But they did add another class for Nov 22nd. I'm guessing since there are many of us trying to get it done by Dec 5th and they want us to use them rather than take class elsewhere...lol... Here's the link. Its $40 and they will mail you a book. almost 2 weeks away till orientation! yay! so excited! well got my physical done yesterday since I had already had a doctors appointment, so that worked out great... I was a pin cushion for the most part. lol. Got all my shot records and just signed up for cpr/life support class for sat Nov 8th. its a long class from 9am-5pm! still have to cough up the money for the drug testing/finger printing and background check. maybe next month since its a huge chunk of money. Thanks for mothers that keep their 30 year old kids shot records! lol... anyone else start doing their stuff? cant wait to meet everyone!

@boragirl so exciting! Can't wait to meet you as well at orientation... Going to be so much information... Lol @spangleBrown in the packet of PDF files the sent us...there's 2/forms there that need to be completed by physician for your physical. They need lots of signatures...lol... So close...I need to start brushing up too...I love Khan. They helped me a lot with math and Chemistry. Yay!! OK over excited! Lol
