  1. Congrats everyone!! I would also recommend joining the BCIT Nursing FB page! A lot of people (including myself) are selling used textbooks there!
  2. Shellbar, you should apply as soon as possible. It takes a few weeks to get your loan approved if you haven't applied recently. They started accepting application for 2014-2015 on June 2nd. I applied on the same day (june 2), and I handed in my fee deferral form the next day. My application was approved after 5 days because they already have my declaration form. Make sure you apply right away because the due date is coming up! :) oh and I think you also have to pay your commitment fee before they approve your fee deferral. Have you guys already done the N95 fit test and CPR-HCP??
  3. Hi Netree, this is what they told me when I asked them last year: In the past, the Nursing department considered the following qualities of an applicant: * Successful completion of entrance requirements * The number of post-secondary courses completed. To be competitive, short-listed applicants must have at least one year of post-secondary education (30 credits). Successful applicants who do not have health-related work experience typically have approximately 60 post-secondary credits completed. * GPA. Having a good GPA (e.g. 3.0) may enhance an application. * Work experience. General work experience is reviewed. Having health related work experience can enhance an application but it is not required. hope this helps!! Goodluck!!
  4. Hi Netree, you pay tuition every level. It's $3282.93 + upass fees from level 1 to 5, and level 6 is $1955.04 + upass.
  5. For those looking for books, is it okay to purchase the previous edition?
  6. Kath22, I think they consider everything(questionnaire, experience/volunteer, gpa). I didn't have a degree, but I have taken the Health Care Assistant program (24credits), pre-reqs (22 credits), and currently taking LIBS 7001,7002 (6 creds). So about 52 credits, I have a pretty good CGPA though! For my work experience, I had about 1600 hours as a care aide at a long term care facility and as a community health worker! When I asked the program advisor before, they said work/volunteer experience, gpa, post-secondary credits(60creds or more if you don't have volunteer experience related to health care) I wish you all the best!! Hang in there !
  7. Goodluck chiseen and lochte!!!
  8. Haha! To find our group, search bcit nursing and then just scroll down till you find bcit nursing aug 2014! U'll need your bcit email ad, and u will also have to verify it!

  10. I have no idea myaconnor, don't we have to do a first aide course too? Anyone know if we can apply for a student loan for level 1?
  11. Thanks shell bar and congrats xmichelle!! chiseen, there's still hope! It's probably just a delay or something!
  12. EVERYONE, check your mybcit website!!!! I got accepted! Finally some news!!!
  13. That sounds like a good deal liquoricetea! Haha! They didn't tell me whether seats are still available or not. I even asked them if offers are sent alphabetically but they didn't comment on that! I honestly don't know whats gonna happen! I'm gonna try to not go on their website as much as I've been doing! Haha!
  14. So.. BCIT admissions said that the nursing committee will be making their final decisions by next week, which means we'd have to wait a bit more!
  15. Nothing for me too! I've been checking their website non-stop since this morning. I think they'll let us know if we got in or not..
  16. thanks shellbar! I hope so too! I've been checking mybcit everytime I get a chance and it's not even fun haha! Did they send u a letter or you just looked at the status of your application?
  17. I honestly dont know when we'll find out!:s It will be too brutal if they make us wait the whole weekend:(
  18. That's awesome liquoricetea!!! Congraaaats!! Mine starts with V, lets all hope for the best:D
  19. Mine just changed from insufficient (I checked it this morning) to pending department review! Haha. They're definitely working on our applications!
  20. Mine still says insufficient! Haha! But congrats shellbar!!! It looks like we'll know earlier than we expected!! Goodluck everyone!!:)
  21. Myaconnor, I only have a certificate (Health Care Assistant), so a total of 46 post secondary credits plus LIBS 7001 and 7002 this summer term! diandroid, who do you have for LIBS 7001?
  22. Myaconnor, are you in the process of finishing a degree? BCIT's part-time studies are really expensive! I just called the nursing department regarding my official transcript and the said that they'd wait for it to arrive and it won't affect my application. She also said that we should know if we got accepted or not by May 30th. 16 more days!!!!!
  23. Yeah:( I am doing it in-class and so far, theres a lot of reading!! Haha! I know I've asked you this, but how was Libs 7002?
  24. Hmm, you can always try!! I'm taking both libs 7001 and 7002 right now, so, no! You don't need to take 7001 to get to 7002:)
  25. I actually went to my school last April 30 to asked for my official transcript, but they said that they couldn't print it just yet because the system is still processing or something. The lady told me that shed mail it on May 2nd, so I waited till yesterday to call them and the guy said I should've gotten it last week! He said he'll just send another one. I should probably come and pick it up and e-mail bcit so they know. Btw, are you taking Libs 7001?
