  1. Hi everyone, I was wondering if anyone knows anything about this inactive status? Seems like two different opinions are floating around: either you're out or the job is just closed. My status is inactive, but it's just the Monday after the Friday the application was due. Can I be that awful of an applicant? Also, I applied online for the Feb 2016 residency and didn't see anywhere to chose my top units. Am I missing something? Maybe that's why I'm inactive--I didn't complete the real application? Any guidance is helpful. I'm an Okie in LA trying to make my way closer to home.
  2. Hi TheCommuter, Thanks for your reply. I'm from Oklahoma, and I am strongly considering moving back to be closer to my family. However, I know all the wonderful things I'd be giving up such as mandated ratios, Magnet recognition, and unions. But, I've been informed by a nurse recruiter at OU Medical that new grads are starting out at $22 an hour now with $3 differentials for nights and weekends. I've done some math and that is only slightly under what I'd make at Children's Hospital Los Angeles. Cost of living is an important indicator. I suppose I will have to wait to ask OU Children's about their ratios. The nurse recruiter would not tell me until I applied! I'm hoping to find out what they do currently, especially in the critical areas of pediatrics.
  3. Hi OK Nurses! I am not sure if the question has been asked, but I cannot find the answer. Does anyone know what the nurse-to-patient ratio is like at OU Children's Hospital? I thought I read somewhere on their website that mentioned "low ratios." I know Oklahoma does not have any laws about nurse ratios, but sometimes hospitals take it upon themselves to set standards. I'm specifically interested in the heme/onc and PICU areas. Thanks in advance
  4. Yes, to everyone who asked, I did e-mail them directly. I asked them why I hadn't received my e-mail as it was already Tuesday evening. I got a response this morning with that pathetic "sorry!" at the end. I thought that was an incredibly rude and unprofessional way to have responded.
  5. So whomever hasn't heard yet, you probably have been rejected and overlooked like me.
  6. You should have received an email from Graduate Division informing you that you were not offered admissions. Sorry!
  7. At least 140 people (accepted and waitlisted) would have to say no to UCLA for them to start picking people from their reject pile. I think the previous poster was right about something going on behind the scenes that's just making this go on for so long. That current MECN student said not all acceptances have gone out. Bottom line, we will know when we get our e-mail and not a second sooner. Also, why would a staff member be giving out acceptance/rejections decisions over the phone? How would they even verify the caller? Now that I find a little hard to believe.
  8. haha this is insane! I got an e-mail on Friday saying I'd get an e-mail no later than this Monday. I guess it's changed... I don't mind completely, because not knowing yet is keeping some hope alive.
  9. Oh my gosh transcripts ARE SO expensive! I had to rush some over to a different program, and each one was 10 bucks. I can't believe they opened them if they didn't even need them.
  10. Mine does too. I'm bracing for the "you suck!" rejection notice.
  11. I would call them, miketbp. The summer cohort had orientation today and the fall cohort has theirs next Friday.
  12. Just for those of us still waiting for any sign of life from the SON, the contact emailed me this: "You will receive an email no later than Monday." I didn't expect anything different but I just had to ask them myself. I bet they recognize my name from the rejection pile how embarrassing.
  13. Hey kuluzu, Several pages ago someone posted that ------------ or --------------- said they were still getting out the acceptance and waitlist e-mails and that we should hear something by Friday or beginning of next week.
  14. Seriously. I feel stupid like I'm waiting for a boy to call! I hate it.
  15. No, it wasn't scary. It was really simple. They asked me why I wanted to be a nurse, or how I came upon nursing, and then a few scenario questions. For example, how did you handle a recent conflict, etc. Basic interview questions you'd expect from a job interview. It really didn't last long!
  16. Do you know how many people are admitted into CSUN's accelerated BSN program?
  17. Yes, CSUN did do interviews. It was seriously 10 minutes long hahah.
  18. Well, the good news for me is that I was accepted by CSUN and CSULA. I chose CSUN's accelerated BSN program as a nice, quick alternative to UCLA's program. I am not too excited to have a second bachelor's degree, but I also like how much faster it will be to just start working.
  19. So did I.
  20. I'm an applicant to the MECN program and have been following our forum and yours. A handful of people on the MECN board have received e-mails about being wait-listed. Most of us have heard absolutely nothing and we are going crazy!
  21. That's probably a good idea. The speculation is driving me insane, but having no other contact with UCLA, it's also really helping me!
  22. An e-mail by Friday! Probably I'll get a rejection e-mail.
  23. I am choosing to believe what -------------- was quoted as saying! They are still in the process of notifying people of their acceptance or wait-listedness.
  24. Praise God!!
