  1. Hello everyone; is nursing that bad? I am getting ready to start my nursing program and am scared out of my wits by all the posting I've read. I have run various businesses before and am very independant. I am also a good team player when I work in a team environment. I have read lots of posting that send the vibe that nursing is not the place to be. Please someone respond with an opinion. I love the medical fiels and wanted to move into Nursing because it would allow me to help others? is this like a bad choice?
  2. WOW! I sense a lot of frustration in your posting with whats happening to the nursing profession. I have been in Oncology for 16 years. This devision of medicine is intense but apparently not as bad as nursing. This concerns me since I am entering the nursing program in May( career change). I have heard very minimal from a positive point of view from the nursing profession, so much so that I am wondering if I am making the right decision. I love patient care and know that I make a difference to the indiiduals that I interact with daily. But it seems that the nursing profession is becoming very cut throat and may not be right for me. Nurses perform a much needed service and impact in the lives of others in a multitued of ways. It is sad to hear that they are not recognized for their dedication and hard work. Unfortunatley, understaffing, longer hours and bad working enironment makes the situation worse. You can't blame anyone for wanting better working conditions. It seems like its a catch 22 situation regardless of how you look at it. I have heard so much about nurses eating their young, a topic which had me concern. Now I read this posting and it just intensified the feeling of uncertainty I started to expirience recently. I have worked with many nurses and I am aware of the issues concerning the profession, but fighting amongst yourselfs will set you back.Gain a united front and stand together on issue so that you can make a difference. The strength and power is there; it comes with the numbers and nurses outrank many other professions in numbers.. The profession would benifit as a whole. I am new to this forum and I joined to observe and seek advice from professionals in an occupation I hope to be a part of. I am just voicing my feelings and mean no disrespect to anyone. I just want to read some positive and uplifting advice. I am petrified at this point. Thank you all for listening.
  3. go for it!!!!!!!!!!!! my moneys on you. Enjoy
  4. Hello everyone; I would have to agree that disclosure is the route to go. I had a horrible time in High School. Talk about a disfunctional family! but, when I realized how much damage I did to myself by totally messing up in H.S., I decided to turn it around and stried to do my best from that point on. Schools are knowledgable enought to know that eeryone has bumps along the way. As long as you do good fromm the entry point till your done, I don't see why you could not get in and do well. Anything worth haing is worth working for! Good luck, keep us posted.
  5. I see that everyones prayed paid off. I am new to this forum but I know the feeling of anxitey; are you glad it's over! I will say a prayer for you. [ QUOTE=anxious hopefull RN]I am so nervous I am taking the test tomorrow morning. I cant help but keep going over things. I am going to stop soon but it is really hard. I really hope I pass this time! I took the test in Feb and had all 265 questions with the near passing standard(Which means nothing I know)!! I just want this so bad. I went to school for four years and I want to finally tell everyone I am a nurse!I want to thank everyone from this site. It is these posts that got me right back in the swing of things when I did not pass the first time! Thanks for all of the encouragement it helped so much!! Please just say a prayer for me or think of me tomorrow. I appreciate all the support so much. I Hope i can post happy results Monday. Good luck to anyone else that is taking them this week!!
