  1. I am an ER nurse and think this is hilarious but realize we all have different sense of humor. I am also friends with a Coroner who wears a **** that says "my day starts when yours ends", now that's riding the line..... but I still giggle when I see it. i think it's important to remember we all have great respect for what we do and when faced with pressure we perform but need to keep a smile as often as we can.
  2. CONGRATS LSGRN2013!!! good luck to you
  3. [quote=LSGRN2013;7497603 Keep me updated on how it goes and I'll do the same. :) Hey LSGRN2013, Thanks for keeping all of us in the loop. Fingers crossed for you.
  4. Hey NewGradRN77, Thats strange, I would think you should have gotten results from written first. When is your oral interview?
  5. Hey John, thanks for keeping me in the loop. Im sure it will be a few weeks before i hear anything. Did you get a date for oral interview?
  6. Yep me too . Well I already took another job so I guess I'm good.
  7. Hey John, did you get your county results yet? they told us when i took the test in the (th 3 weeks for results. also do you know th whole process? I read that after passing test there is an interview, then that total score to be placed in the "hirable pool" but does all of this end in a job or just a possibility of a job? I know the county has a lot of steps involved in the process and the probable interview a ton of folks, they can't possibly employ all of us.
  8. Thanx JohnDeyet, tool the test today, you sure forget a lot in 8 months when you not using it. There were 50 in my test and i have seen 3 other dates for sure so there has probably been hundreds of folks tested. No holding out hope, but who knows.
  9. I know this is older but did you ever get a response? I too have been applying at Centinella with no luck. I did go down to HR, they wouldn't even talk to me, they said all of applying is done online. I just want to find a job!!!
  10. afis405, In the case of the hospital that said an applicant lived to far, I believe it was either san bernardino or redlands and they said riverside was too far. Odd though, the applicants cousin worked there and they lived together. I just mentioned it because i had never heard of that before. Re: Hemet, I called this morning and they said they were still going through app's, so I guess thats doesn't rule us out, yet haha. good luck in your search.
  11. afls405, I wonder if where we live plays a role in their selection process. I had a friend that didn't get chosen for another hospital out that way because they said they gave preference to riverside residents. Where do you live? i live SUPER FAR!!!!! Id hate tho think none of us made it. The lady at the front desk was very incessant that if they didn't call by the end of july they went with other applicants.
  12. They were very clear not to call contact them on the status, but u see others did so maybe I will tomorrow.
  13. Shoot, no not a word. Has anyone called?
  14. WOW, looks like they have been testing for a while. I have a date to test Aug 9th. A bit nervous for test. Any idea where the test falls in the application process, because i applied 2 months ago, I thought they had passed me over long ago.
  15. wow, I really thought they had already chosen, so maybe there is still hope.
  16. Thanks for the reply. As I was leaving after filling out the application, the gal at the front desk was saying to everyone "if you don't hear from us by the end of july, we have probably gone with another candidate". I was hopping to hear by now, I have a bad feeling. I wish I knew. I wish they would just send an email so i knew for sure.
  17. I applied to Hemet Valley on July 8th 2013 and was wondering if anyone else did and has heard back? They were very clear not to contact them and ask about the status of applications. A friend tried to apply on the 10th and they said they were not accepting anymore app's..... meaning they got tons, of course. It kinda bothers me that hospitals say "please dont contact us". I do understand they receive an abundance of applications but what about just common curtacy and thanking those who took the time to locate, write a cover, drive or fill out app online? ugh that even sounds silly as i write it, of course they don't care, thousands of apps for 10 or 20 jobs. How do i get someone to put my app on the top of the pile if i don't have a relative working at a hospital???? WILL I EVER FIND A JOB??? ((

  19. I was looking into Providence but the main site doesn't have dates for new grad program and i can't get anyone to call me back from either Torrance or San Pedro. Did y'all apply through Providence main site?
  20. hello i was trying to apply to either torrance or san pedro and there is no new grad dates and i can't get anyone to answer the phone. did you apply through the providence site?
  21. Ithanks for the link. I went to the site and it was sad and somehow comforting to see so many in the same boat. although it sparked for renewed motivation, it also brought forward some difficult realization of WHAT THE HECK IS NEXT. its almost like fait has to be involved a bit. Only time will tell. Good luck to all looking, and all with graduation in sight.
  22. WOW this thread is amazing to read. although i hear from some of my classmates having the same issues as me its crazy to hear its all over CA, and has been going on for so long. I am a new grad, dec 12. i have applies to 87 positions and have not gotten one interview. I had a GPA of 3.4 in nursing school and 4.0 in science and math prereq's. I feel i have lost the motivation to make every app perfect and i know thats the key. I have no patience for kissing ass on the computer to someone who is just going to move my app to the trash bin after i worked so hard on it. once i worked on an app 2.5 hours and when it was perfect submitted it at 3:27 . .. . . . .at 4:12 was rejected, COME ON, they couldn't even review it that fast. It was the first time i really thought of going to the hospital locating human resources and just asking them "did you even read it"!!! hahah but honestly we should take a moment to be proud of our past accomplishments and remember back to another time we didn't think we would succeed, and seeing as we are all on a thread for out of work RN's, at least we have some initials behind our names. I do hate it when people say "you'll find something" because some day, yes, I'm sure i will. I just wish that day was sooner rather than later. feel like I'm getting rusty and loosing confidence in ability.
  23. goodness this was so meet to wake up and see all of these comments. I will try to keep my head up. I will check out the forum for frustrated new grads. I am starting a BSN in fall. and to those of you in the program or soon to be, look into "student nurse " positions. I believe you can apply after second semester. I also heard that you can take a CNA exam after 2nd and get a job that way. I know it might seem overwelming to have a job during school but even if you can work once a pay period (thats twice a month) it will help. As for volunteering all hospitals do it different and for some you literally refill paper in copy machines, but somehow if you can make connections it would be worth it. I think its better to find medical related volunteering is possible i.e. family planning, health dpt thing like that. THANKS AGAIN to all that replied
  24. I Graduated from Pasadena with an ADN, my first mistake. Most of the new grad jobs being offered are to BSN's. Also, apply for ANY job you can that is in a hospital (if that is where you would like to work) and make time to volunteer. I felt i needed to spend every moment when i wasn't in school with my eyes on a book, looking at videos, practicing skills or anything else nursing related that i thought would make me a better nurse in the end, and it all served little purpose. So what if i passed NCLEX in 75, can't find a job and I'm pretty sure I'm showing all the signs of depression. Balance thats the key, Eye on the prize and look at the bigger picture.
