RN to MSN advice please
Letters can come from any nurse manager, physician, Nurses educator, but schools really like letters from your previous teachers. You have been out of school for a while so the nurse educator might be easier for you. As far as advice on your direction; I would say that has to do primarily on what your goals are. I would rather do the CNS because there are a ton of job opporitunities that will not require you to work directly for a medical group, or a physician. Leadership positions, educator roles, and so many others open up with CNS. Plus you can get a job that you will not have to be at work on holidays, weekends, ETC. Go to work, do your job, go home. No dictation, no drama with insurance companies, reimburments, worrying about your patients.... did I miss anything??? For me I would do CNS, for you... Depends on your goals. The jobs are so different.

most of my nursing class failed NCLEX
So I went to a very well known school that shall remain nameless for now. Basically I passed my nclex at 208 questions PRAISE THE LORD for that, but 48 of 60 students in my class failed the nclex. That is right 48 of 60 students... So what does that mean for my school???

breakdown at work
I find BrandonLPNs comment to be gender discriminant, and clearly this man has no education of merit. First of all, Nursing is not considered a field of "less than" professionals or effeminate. Registered Nurses are in one of the most trusted professions in the USA. We come from a legacy of critical thinkers, independent practioners, and scientific innovators. I graduated with a BS from ASU in pre-law; I saw plenty of men in very high positions throw things, cry from anger or frustration and police officers weeping and sobbing in court due to bad verdicts! I am now in the hospital and see male doctors crying with patients due to sadness, frustration ECT. And I am sure they are not considered "less than professional" or of having traits of women. Crying does not put someone at a level of unprofessional and validates no type of disrespect. It simply means that someone is human, as it is a human response. After all that is simple biology, basic anatomy, and basic physiology. This person should be ashamed of their uneducated comment. I pray he will be humbled someday very soon. The respondsibilty of his job, no doubt does not compare to yours.

I dont know whether to continue nursing school
The best advice is going to be to stick it out. An old lady I work with just went back and got her NP in the last two years. At the start of her program all the girls gave her a really hard time because she was in her 70s and having a hard time studying, remembering, and making friends. But with the help and support of family and co-workers she is finished now. Most programs are going to be 2 years. Anyone can do two years. Nursing is worth it because you can only go up from here. Sure your placement sucks, and youre stressed and tired, but you will have a career in less than 24 months. You will probably lose your "friends". I once was told you know you are doing well when your "freinds" and personal life are no longer a part of your routine. The truth is your friends are going to be slightly envious because they want to be there where you are. If you are truely 19 in an RN or LVN program STAY THERE! You will only have a rewarding career at 21!!! Buy a house, buy cars, ECT. the sky is the limit for you. Do not be held back by distractions!!! Good luck and remember your clinic expirience is what you make of it; meaning, have fun there, volunteer to do everything, when someone is rude to you smile at them and kill em with kindness. You will be victorius in the end. You get to move on their rooty poo behind will stay there!

breakdown at work
First of all.... Crying is a natural human response so do not ever feel ashamed because you were crying. I am so sorry that it happened to you. I have cried a few times. The first was when my dog died and I was working as an LVN for a very old burnt out hag and she chewed me out over something stupid and I couldn't put on the show! I just literally broke down and told her where to go. I transfered units shortly after, but it happens. Most of the time we compose ourselves but we are fragile at times and our jobs contribute to the fagility at times. I wish you the best, and do not be ashamed. Be proud of who you are, what you represent and remember you are not perfect.... just close to it! LOL!

Has anyone ever tried the Pearson Vue trick and not have it work?
California does not participate in quick results grrrr I took my test eleven days ago and am not on the BRN yet. I feel like I failed because I took so many questions but I cannot re-register for the test and get the good pop-up on PV. When I called they said that my results wont be released until they receive my transcripts. MY Transcripts were sent in over four weeks ago. I ordered a second set ten days ago. California BRN is sadly slow.

Has anyone ever tried the Pearson Vue trick and not have it work?
So the time has been ticking since I took my nclex with... no results!!! This is horrible! I am trying the pearson vue trick daily, and obsessively and I am getting the "good" pop up. However, I took 200 questions! I do not feel like I passed! So my question to you is; has anyone ever had the "good" pop up and still failed? How accurate is the peatson vue trick? Thanks in advance for entertaining my stress level which is through the roof!!

thats great for her however, that route is going to be tough, and unfortunately not one most people have time for.

RN to complete Online MSN then NP ?
Hi there!! I was looking into the RN-MSN with WGU as well; however, they do not offer you a GPA to transfer your MSN to another school. So, lets say you do your MSN with WGU and want to do a post masters at ASU because its cheaper. the problem is they wont accept it. :-( If your goal is an MSN I suggest going for it, but at an accredited school that will offer you the ability to transfer with a GPA. GCU has an RN to MSN program and a FNP program. It's accredited and affordable but I have heard it is "easy As" and people aren't learning anything. I am going to start the GCU RN-MSN program next month. Like you I have been an LVN for a long time. I have a two year degree, and a BS in a related feild but not nursing. Maybe we can buddy up and help each other through the GCU msn program. It is approximately 14-18 months long.
