  1. So, I have a 2 year contract. I started in Alabama, completed 1 year, and moved to Florida. My contract will technically be up in Septempter, but I have not had 4 employer reviews in Florida because I did not get my license here until January. So, since I have not had 4 employer reviews they want me to have a readiness to complete evaluation. I love in Wellington, Palm beach county!
  2. I have been given a list of IPN approved evaluators for my readiness to complete evaluation. However, I moved to Florida not long ago, so I am not familiar with any of them. The ones around my area charge $1000-1500 for the evaluation which I think is excessive.
  3. Tenet hires IPN nurses.
  4. I am an ARNP in the IPN program in Florida. I have been on a few job interviews and every time I bring up IPN the whole interview seems to change. I have a few more interviews scheduled in the coming weeks. I was wondering if anyone had waited to disclose their participate in an alternative to discipline program until after the interview. I was thinking of waiting until they offer me the job if it comes to that. I have no key restriction or anything that would interfere with my ability to preform my job. They can not resend an offer because of an alternative to discipline program, correct?
  5. Hey guys! A little back ground: In 2013 I got caught diverting, went to treatment, entered into Alabama's alternative to discipline program, VDAP. I recently moved to Florida for my husband's job. Had my monitoring transferred to their alternative to discipline program, IPN. So, Florida issue me a ARNP license with the condition that I comply with IPN. Over the weekend, I get a letter in the mail stating that I have been reported to the national practitioner data bank(NPDB). I look the report up and it says that I have been treated in the last 5 years for a condition that may impair my ability to safely care for patients, that the Alabama board of nursing took action against my license in 2013, and that Florida was issuing me a license with conditions. Here is why I am confused: Why is Florida reporting me and Alabama never did? Alabama did not take action against my license as I was in alternative to discipline program. How can they report this information if I am in an alternative to discipline program which is suppose to keep all of this information sealed upon successful completion? Also, this report never goes away, so when my contract is up my information will still be available to anyone who looks me up in NPDB! Has anyone else been reported? Does being reported make it more difficult to get a job?
  6. Sothernpoint, what part of southern Florida are you in? My husband has a job offer in west palm beach that we are considering! I am currently monitored in Alabama so I do not know much about IPN. How hard is it to find a job around the area?
  7. I was busted in May of 2013 for diverting. I completed treatment and began monitoring through Alabama's VDAP program in September of 2013. My contract here in Alabama is only for 2 years. I am a nurse practitioner and one of the stipulations was that I could not work as a NP for 1 year which will be up next month. I also had a key restriction for 6 months which has now been lifted. My husband has been offered a job in West Palm Beach that we are seriously considering! I was wondering if anyone could give me some information about transferring to the Florida IPN program? The VDAP program here is like the IPN program in Florida as it is voluntary disipline which will be wiped from your record if successfully completed. From what I have read the IPN contracts are usually for 5 years. That is usually the case here as well, but praise the lord mine was only 2. I do not want Florida to extent it to 5 though! Anyone in the West palm beach area know the best places to look for jobs? TIA
  8. Thanks for your reply! What did you do for the year and half you didn't have a licisence? What were the terms of your probation and how long did it last? I am not an addict either, so I'm not sure a recovery program is best for me either!
  9. Hello everyone! I have been reading this forum for a few weeks and had a couple of questions I would love some feedback on. I was an RN for 11 years before becoming an NP a year ago. I have worked at the same hospital the entire 12 years. Never been in trouble and always had outstanding evaluations. Well, 2 weeks ago I had a random drug test that was positive for lortab because I took 2 the night before that my mom had given me for a pulled muscle. I do not take them on a regular basis. All my past random drug test have been negative. I was just wondering if anyone knew if NPs were disciplined by the board the same as RNs? I am assuming my employer is going to turn this over to the BON! Also, my employer as a policy that your 1st positive drug screen they will turn it over to the employee assistance program which will refer you to a treatment center, but they will not fire you & give you a job when treatment is completed! I have worked with nurses in the past who have gotten caught diverting & this is what happened to them. They were able to return to work as an RN just had narcotic restrictions like the ones discussed here. I have not heard anyone discuss programs such as this and I am terrified they will fire me & turn me over to the BON. Reading some of you guys post, it seems as though it is very difficult to get a job after bring reported to the BON! Thanks in advance of any insight!
