Just wanted to mention that I passed my test!!!!! And have completed all the requirements for admission. Crossing my fingers that I get picked to start now in August! I'm ecstatic :))) lol.

If you have the book, all of that is covered in the Science section. It also has 3 exams for you to take of 60 questions each. Also, the CD that is included with the book has all the questions from all the sections for you to quiz yourself as well. I'm just worried about them covering other stuff that's not on there. I'm just really nervous, and I need to chill out because that was the main issue last time. I need to go in knowing that I'm going to pass this test. I'll be there at 7am tomorrow. Last time I got there late because of my son and traffic, and that also held me back from passing because I had about 15 questions to answer from the first section, that I was unable to answer correctly. Word of advice, get there early lol. Btw, I looked you up but noticed that there are a few other Ashley Febre on there lol. What does your default picture look like, or look me up.. Hello everyone, I'm so glad to hear that so many moms are going out of their way to better their futures for their children. It's funny how becoming a parent changes you almost 100%! The person you were before no longer exists, and a new person full of determination and want takes over. I currently finished all my pre-requisites to start Associates of Science in Nursing program at FNU, but before taking the next step, decided to apply at an intensive program at Mercy Hospital here in Miami, FL. I take their entrance exam tomorrow morning, and have my fingers, hands, toes, and feet crossed that I pass!! Has anyone on here taken the National League for Nursing Pre-Entrance Exam either for LPN or RN? If so, can you give me some advise on how to prepare for it? I took it once already, but since there's different exams available, I want to make sure I cover anything that may come up tomorrow. I'm soo nervous. Btw, I too am a single mom of a 5 year old (turning 6 in November) that I love so very much. He has made me who I am today, and has re-instilled in me that fire to move on and become someone. Not only for him, but for myself. I've managed to take and pass my GED test, as well as finish all my pre-requisites for Nursing all in exactly a year. I took my GED May of last year, and started school in June. If anyone has any feedback on that exam, please let me know. I'm super nervous and NEED to pass this test.

I've read in some posts that the book helps alot, and I've read in other posts that it only covers the basic. I took the test and can tell you one thing, it has a lot of Chemistry, Physics, and Biology. You need to know your elements, atoms, protons/electrons, electrical charges, currents, what's a joule watt ampere etc, light waves, the basics about plants, what are the formulas in physics, the different reactions, cellular respiration, and some Anatomy & Physiology like the blood, respiratory system, different organ systems and their functions, etc. I'm sorry for the mess of information, it's just that I'm typing as I remember. They have 2 different exams if I'm not mistaken, therefore in one all of this could be covered, and in the other it could be completely different, but my own experience is all I can base myself on. I missed it by 8 points the first time, THIS TIME I HAVE TO PASS lol. Do you have a facebook? We can continue talking through there if you do. Hope this all helps :)

Hey Ashley, I'm currently studying for this test as well. I'm taking it tomorrow morning for the second time, because the first time I was short 8 points from their passes score. I also have the book this time around, which I wasn't able to get a hold of the first time; therefore I'm thinking that I should manage to make those 8 points without a problem. I'm nervous too. I don't get another chance to take the test if I don't pass tomorrow, so I'm crossing all fingers, toes, hands, and feet! lol

When I took the Kaplan at FNU, I noticed there were some Dosage Questions, so I'm going over conversions just in case. (Here's the link in case you want to take a look too lol: DosageHelp.com - Helping Nursing Students Learn Dosage Calculations - Dosage Question Steps) Decimals, percentages, ratios, fractions, etc. was on there too, so I'm thinking it will be in the NLN as well. Also, I'm not sure what the Science part consists of, BUT from what the Kaplan had, it might have a lot of A&P questions.

I won't be there that early, because I have to take my son to school; but I'll be there by 7:15 or so. What have you used to study? I'm studying as we speak! I'm going over math since that's where I have the biggest issue.

Not trying to "name drop" on here, but an alternate choice for me right now is Mercy Hospital's School of Practical Nursing and then a bridge program to their Nursing Program. Everything is done within one facility, and there are only about 90 students. They're deadline is in the beginning of May, and they don't require any pre-requisites. All you have to do is pass their NLN PAX-PN and within their program they give you A&P and Microbiology. It's an option, even though I've already done my A&P classes, but it's something to look into since I haven't entered a nursing program yet. Email me if you want @: [email protected]!! Good luck :)

To be honest, I just went in there and took it. The first time I got a 65%, and the second a 66%. Now that I'm hearing you mention that it has been raised to 75%, I don't know what I'll be doing. The school's nursing program has been on probation for a few years now, and that's probably why they're raising it's bar. Making sure that students getting in know more, therefore making classes easier for teachers to teach. I'm finishing right now Human Growth and Development & Communications, but still have Microbiology and Chemistry to go. I should be done with all my pre-reqs by ending of June. I'm still iffy about a few things. Don't know what my next step will be. Good luck missy!

I am currently enrolled in a University's MAT - Future RN program, and I'm 2 classes away from finishing my prerequisites to take their entrance exam. At this point, after being there for almost 8 months, I'm doubting whether to start their Nursing program, or transfer off to another school. I was looking into Mercy Hospital's School of Practical Nursing since it's a 12 months program. I have already 4 of their prerequisites done, therefore it will not be as long for me to finish. Has anyone gone to this school recently that can give me feed back? I will be taking their entrance exam April 16th, and would love to know about any experiences you might have had going here; or even hear from students that are currently there, or about to begin testing like me. I have been reading past posts that go as far back as to 2004, and I've read nothing but great things about the education they offer, as well as how prepared their students have been when then taking the bridge program towards RN. Since these posts were from so far back, and have come to as close as 2009, I would like to here from current graduates or students from 2012-now. Thank you, and hope to hear from some of you soon. I'm SOO excited!! Can't wait.

nonyrn: If you were to read this, could you tell me what lead you to going to MDC? I'm kind of stuck in the middle of FNU and MDC. MDC's enterance exam requirements are a bit more strict, and the acceptance to the program takes a little longer; but it's still an option for me. I'm a bit worried about books at FNU. I was just recently told that FNU's nursing students don't get books covered by financial aid, yet we are recommended not to work during our core class part of the program. I'm confused. Just need feedback before making an ultimate decision.

Dakaylie: Why did you transfer over here from FIU and MDC? I know this is an old post, but I was just wondering what would make you transfer? I have 2 pre reqs left to enter the Nursing Core part of the program at FNU, and have actually caught myself lingering back and forth to whether I should stay, or transfer over to either FIU or MDC. Can you give me some input on your decision, and what did you end up doing? If you entered FNU's Nursing Program, what has your experience been like? I'd love to know. Thanks!

Who are you telling!! It does suck, but they won't accept it. I haven't had the chance to re-take it, because when attempting too back in Feb, they told me that I had to pass both ENC 1101 and MAC 1105 before taking it again. I had already taken ENC 1101, but was taking MAC 1105 at the time, and had to wait to finish it. Now, I'm going to try to take it again before the end of this month. Hopefully, I'm able to score at least a 67% to drop that "Medical Assistant" label under my name and have it switched to Registered Nurse student already lol. Also I have a question for anyone that can answer this for me. Those of you that are already taking Nursing Core classes, can you please let me know whether or not you have to pay for your books out of pocket? I'm being told that Nursing students don't get coverage for books from financial aid once they start the program. If it's like that, I don't know if I'm going to be able to stay. You can tell I don't come on here very often, because I just noticed that someone had actually responded to my post. I'm 2 prereqs away from finishing my requirements, yet I haven't taken my Kaplan again. They changed things on me, and told me that I had to pass my MAC1105 class before attempting to take the exam again. Before as long as you didn't have remedials, they would let you try. Now you have to have taken ENC1101 and MAC1105 before attempting to take it. I'll be trying to do so this month, and see what happens. I don't think I'm going to do too bad, but I don't want to spit up and have it land on my face lol. Hope everything is going good for you. Let me know how the classes have been since you started in January. Any bit of feedback will help. I'm curious to know what it will be like for me hopefully in Aug 2014! :) Thanks!

Hey Kathy, I know it's been a while since you posted this, but by now you should already be taking your first few nursing core classes at FNU. I was wondering how things were going for you? I'm currently taking Human Growth & Development and Oral Communications online, but will be finishing my prereqs next term with Chemistry and Microbiology on campus. How hard are the classes? Do you like them? Are they hands on? Let me know whatever little bit you can. I haven't had the opportunity to speak to anyone else taking their core classes yet, and am extremely curious to know what I will be expecting as of Aug 2014! :) Thanks!

I've asked around and even actual nurses have given me a different answer than what they state it is. If you happen to know what was done to obtain the answer, please LET ME KNOW lol. Thank you! A nurse is to give the liquid medicine 3 times a day. The morning dose is 3/4 ounce, the noon dose is 1/2 ounce, and the evening dose is 3/4 ounce. The nurse has 1 ounce of medicine at noon. How much more does she need to complete the evening dose? Answer: 1 ounce The only way I was able to come up with 1 was by doing the following (and I don't even think it's right lol) : 3/4 (the evening dose needed) - 1/2 ( what's left after the noon dose) = 3/2 - 1/2 (common denominator) = 2/2 = 1 I have this crazy feeling in my stomach that this is EASIER than what I'm making of it. I may just be over thinking the steps to solve this. If anyone can help me, I'd appreciate it! Thanks again :)

I'm starting from scratch, because I didn't have any previous college credits to transfer, but I'm loving every second here so far. I was wondering who else was attending FNU, and what your experiences have been like so far. I'm planning on taking the Kaplan Entrance Exam again before the end of this month. FNU requires at least a 67% to pass, and I got a 66%!! (Yes I know, I wanted to shoot myself when I heard that by ONE PERCENT I now have to retake the whole thing AGAIN! But I just have to suck it up, and do what I have to do... lol.) Share, share, share your experiences and feel free to ask any questions that you may have on here.

I started June 2013, but I'm starting from scratch. I don't have any previous transferable credits, therefore I'm taking all my pre-requisites now. I'm currently MAT / Future RN because I still need to pass the Kaplan Entrance Exam. We're supposed to get a 67% to pass, and I got a 66% last time I took it! What classes have you guys taken? I'm not sure if you've already taken it, but I just noticed your post. It basically was Reading, Writing, Science, and Math. Reading and Writing were basic; Science was mostly the Blood and it's functions; and Math was basically fractions, ratios, percentages, and measurements. Hopefully this helps you out!
