  1. Thank you so much! I really appreciate it.
  2. Haha that was my worst job. I worked night stocking at Target. The only thing that made it bearable was the people I worked with in softlines. I like shopping there now that I don't work there.
  3. I officially got offered the job as a ER nurse! I am so excited and ready to learn. What supplies do I need to carry with me on the floor? What books do you recommend for new ER nurses? This is my first hospital job, so I am not sure what to expect. Thank you in advance!
  4. Uncomfortable is not the word. The burn of a thousand suns is more like it. Luckily here in south jersey we have after hours care through by doctors office. So that is a more immediate option than waiting 2 days to get it taken care. If you are not brought down by the pain then more power to you for being able to wait that long.

If worst comes to worst I will extend my dates at the old place. Thank you, I hope so too.

Yea they did. But I am farther along in the process than the person the email was intended for. I basically have a verbal offer but am waiting for confirmation of the written offer. It is the new places fault because she told me I could put in my notice because she is offering me the job and orientation will start soon. I just need paper confirmation, that is all. Next time I will just wait for the official offer before I jump the gun. I would rather them wait on me to finish off my notice, than for me to wait on them, not knowing what is going on. Cannot trust anyone it seems. Smh and the one time I do, things turn out like this.

I had an interview with last month with an NM . It went really well and they called me back 2 weeks later. The NM said that HR will be contacting me with an offer shortly. I met with HR and the recruiter told me she is offering me the job and that it was ok for me to put in my notice because orientation will start shortly. Long story short, I have given her all my references and all the paperwork they need from my current HR has been faxed to them. The HR recruiter has been sending me emails about things that I have already sent her, to which I responded to politely. She also has sent me an email that was not for me but to another person with the same first name, but different last name! When I met with her she seemed very confused about who she was meeting with, what was going on, and what papers I have already given her. I am so disgusted and disappointed because I expected a highly sought after hospital to be more organized and on top of everything. Now I will have to extend my resignation at a place (LTC) where everyone's license is in jeopardy every time we work there, because of this hospital's irresponsibility. Does anyone have any experience with hiring processes like this and incompetent recruiters?

  9. Hey guys. I had my interview last week on an oncology/med-surg floor. The HR interview went really well, and she sent me over to meet with the Nurse Manager of the floor. There I had a second interview with her and also got a tour of the floor from one of the nurses that work there. She discussed how the shifts work and answered the questions I had. At the end she told me there was 2 positions;one full-time and the other part-time (but I would still receive full-time hours). She said that she would most likely give me the part-time because one of the internal nurse wants that full time position so she would get first dibs. After she said she said she would give me a call next week after her last interview she said quote "Jackie* wants me to see everyone first before we discuss". So does that mean the job is mine? I know I can't depend on what the NM told me as an offer, but I really want this job and I have a good feeling about it. Sooo now I'm just waiting to hear back. It will be exactly one week tomorrow. I'm super nervous! P.S. I also hand wrote and mailed out thank you card to both the HR lady and the NM.
  10. I could not find the nursing recruiters email and I am very interred in working at this hospital. I can be reached at [email protected] Thank you in advance.
  11. Every place is different. And from what I've been reading time frames vary for when they call you. But I did call HR and they said there's no update yet so who knows. I've applied to other places too so all my eggs aren't in one basket. Hopefully I'll hear back soon. ***fingers crossed***
  12. Sadly a lot of people do but that's neither here nor there. Hopefully I get the job so I won't have to go through all of that messiness.
  13. No worries honestly, I just hope I get the job I want soon so I hopefully won't have to go through that. Leaving another place soon after I start to go into my dream job is a worst case scenario. Besides its a part time position so if I leave to pursue a full time position then it won't seem so bad.
  14. There is no attitude. If you want to think there is some type of attitude because of my opinions about some things then fine. But my question (if you read the very beginning of the thread) was about how long it should take to hear from a job. That was it. Yea yea I know that we are nurses and people feel the need to assess the whole situation, but my second option was never in the question. Any normal person would feel ganged up on, so if you think I have an attitude then sorry.
  15. Well guess they gotta go after a majority of people on the work force...
  16. Don't be so offend honey. If you look all over this website leaving jobs for a better one is very common. And Rehab and Psych are two very different jobs. If you are the type of person who will stick anything out for a year or so, then do that. You and I are two different people so therefore your judgement is not needed. My name on my resume and license, not yours.
  17. That's the thing, I got this interview through my best friends' aunt. I sent her my resume and the NM called me the very next day to set up an interview. Which was how I was able to skip HR interview first and go straight to the NM. But after she (the NM) said if I was hired I would hear from HR. It will 2 weeks and 1 day today. And I'm still waiting. I called on Tuesday for an update and the recruiter still has not gotten back to me. Yup, I applied everywhere in NY possible. I live in NJ and have applied all over also and have got nothing so I decided to do out of state which I'm excited about. I want to travel all over so I would love to get this job. Pray for me! Haha.
  18. Yes and I have taken into consideration everything that was posted. And still came to the conclusion that if I am stuck at the psych place I would really hate it and be unhappy I'm sure of it. A DON there already quit because a patient attacked her. That's why I'm hoping if I do have to work there to make money while I'm waiting, I will do that and be very cautious for however long I am there. But I don't want to make it a permanent thing (who wants to feel unsafe and walking on egg shells in a place they work at?). That's how I felt on those psych clinical rotations. I just want my dream job so I will continue to go on interviews and work while waiting to hear back from the place I recently interviewed at.
  19. Thanks hun, but I needed an answer for a specific question that's all. Everything else I did not need advice for because I was going to do what I wanted regardless.
