  1. I think I see your name in the email list. Check your yahoo email. And you don't have to bring your Fundamentals book. The packets says to bring your "Fundamentals Success" book, if you have it. It wasn't on the required book list so I'm sure not everyone will.
  2. Yeah, I went there yesterday and looked but didn't buy. That's ridiculous. I know the bookstore's prices are higher, but $100 more?! For the exact same thing? And good thing I didn't, because Amazon pushed the release date back up and it'll be here by Tuesday. I would've loved to have had it to read ahead over the weekend, but I am willing to sacrifice a couple of days.. (By the way, if you haven't checked LOLA, they changed our Fundamentals teacher. It's no longer the one that taught the CPR class. I've heard good things about this one as well, though, from people that had her as a clinical instructor.)
  3. Yeah, it's the bundle. How much is it at the bookstore?
  4. For everyone that pre-ordered the Fundamentals textbook on Amazon.... It was suppose to be shipped today, but they changed the publication date to the 30th. I don't know how this is going to work. We need it the first week of school. And if Amazon won't have it until the 30th, I'm sure the school bookstore won't either.
  5. It's pretty much in order. I'm not sure who you have, but last semester, we had a quiz on the first 3 chapters. Ch. 1 is intro to A&P and Ch. 2 and 3 are just pretty much review from Bio 120. And we couldn't drop that quiz grade. Then the first test was on Ch. 4, 5, and 6. Personally, I would start reading those chapters first.
  6. We got an email saying that orientation is now 9-5, not just 9-4; still on the 23rd of August.
  7. I would think they're okay as long as your socks don't show? I think they want them covered in case you spill anything on them or someone throws up on them, etc. This is the first time in my life that the beginning of a semester seemed too far away! I just want to get started already.
  8. We also wear them to lab. We only wear scrubs to our check-offs and our clinicals. Personally, I don't get it. I'd rather wear scrubs to lab. And it makes more sense.
  9. Lectures: Monday and Friday 8:30-10:20 Lab/Clinical: Tuesday/Wednesday 7-1
  10. They emailed a list of the books. It's the same as the bookstore's list EXCEPT the pharmacology book was different.
  11. I meant to write it that way. Sorry for the confusion! But your lab is the same day as your clinical. You're in lab for the first 6 weeks, then in the hospital for the second 6 weeks. And if lab/clinical days are Tuesday and Wednesday and there isn't anything on Thursday, then we'll definitely have our lectures on Monday and Friday. We're not broken into groups for those. Everyone's in the same class. We're only there 3 days a week. 2 days of lecture, 1 day of lab/clinical.
  12. Good to know! Especially since I've scheduled a 6-9pm class on Thursday and was worried about having a 6am-9pm day. So then we'll probably have lab/clinical on Tuesday or Wednesday (depending which group you're in), and lectures on Monday and Friday morning (we're all crammed together for those). But just a little warning, from my friend that's in her second year... they sometimes had clinicals on Saturdays, randomly.
  13. This was the exact package they said to get: LINK I think it's the same thing, but this one comes with Nursing Skills DVDs.
  14. Yeah, that's who we bring our lab results to. And everything else that's due on the 28th. He's in Rm 212.
  15. I was too. I think we just need to take iron supplements.
  16. I don't believe there was a lottery. I think there just wasn't as much competition this year. It varies year to year.
  17. That's the way I remembered it as well. But I checked BRCC's website the other day when someone mentioned it here, and apparently it has changed. Psych 202 is now listed as a pre-req for Mental Health, which is one of the Spring classes. LINK So if anyone hasn't taken it yet, I would schedule it on Monday, just to be safe. But it's the easiest class I've ever taken, so I wouldn't stress..
  18. You don't need nutrition at all. A&P II is the only one you have to take this fall. It's a pre-requisite for the Spring semester. Microbiology is a pre-requisite for the third semester. So you have until next summer to take that. And Stats can be completed whenever.
  19. I'm taking A&P II too. The only 3 non-morning classes they have at the moment are MWF (4-6), MW (6-9), and TR (6-9). It's the Potter one. I got this: LINK That's what came up when I searched the ISBN number on amazon. I guess it's a new edition so it's not out until August 12th, but that will still be plenty of time before school starts.
  20. I bought all of them except for the handbook of L&D Tests, but I'll probably get that one too before school starts.
  21. I guess so. But I have a friend that's going into her second year and she said she hasn't used the Comp. Handbook of Lab & Diagnostic tests or the dictionary, for what it's worth. And that list doesn't say that the Fundamentals Success book is required, but our packet says we're suppose to bring that book to our orientation. I got my physical and shots at a clinic in Clinton, then they sent me to a hospital for the blood work.
  22. I've spent the past two days doing packet-related things. Here are the tips/info I have if anyone's interested: I got my insurance online from NSO, it's $37/year. You don't need your old immunization records with the titers. And the physical/shots/blood work is super expensive ($200-$300). For the scrubs, I would go to Uniforms by Bayou instead of Classic Image Uniforms because the latter doesn't have the polo shirt that you need to order. They also didn't have the list of supplies we need when I went yesterday. For the books, go to this link. Select Fall '13, NURS, 110, then 'Get course materials' and it will give you the list. I got mine from Amazon. I know the classes will be in the morning. I think last year it was Tues & Wed 8-10:30 (ish) and Thursday and Friday 6:30-1 (ish). Just to give you an idea! I have another class to schedule as well, so I'm just going to schedule it at night to be on the safe side.
  23. I would get the two money orders first and take the $10 one to the place they suggest to get your fingerprints done. I went yesterday and it was quick and easy (also saw three other people that will be in our class while I was there). And those are the two things that are due first.
  24. I had a 3.56 and got 94 on my HESI. I took all my pre-reqs there as well. Sorry you haven't heard anything yet. I hated not knowing!
