No. I wasn't working as a nurse before graduation. I had the job pending passing boards. It isn't about the market. It is about starting the search early. I graduated with an ASN and got hired into a BSN position. The hospital I am at has very few job openings and it takes persistence.

New grads should have a job lined up BEFORE graduation. I had a job a month before I graduated, along with half of my class. Start looking early people.

Yes. I just graduated with an ASN. My advice is to find a nurse extern job in a hospital that you would like to be at. I nurse externed during my last semester of nursing school and was hired into an RN position before graduation into the Critical Care Unit pending passing boards. I am now an RN and orienting to the unit. I also had virtually no work experience except for my extern position. I am 21 years old, so yep new grads and even babies like me can be hired into a unit following graduation. Nurse residency programs are the way to go. You just have to start the hunt early. I did feel like I failed and I still do. I have 24 hours left to wait for quick results but the good pop up is still holding steady. I'm still praying the pop up is right!

Took nclex today. Computer shut off at 75 qs and I am now getting the "good pop up". I hope the trick is still true.

Yea. I did OB and peds evenly with everything else. I only looked at the med sheets twice. I should have done more, but ran out of time. Just practice those questions and read the rationals and you will be fine.
