  1. Hello, Thanks for stopping in to read my post first and foremost. I've worked in an outpatient dialysis clinic for 2 years, became preceptor during that time and learned a lot while obtaining my CCHT. I've been thinking lately, is it possible to advertise myself with the credentials I carry and help patients who would like to do home treatments instead of having to come into a clinic? I would have conversations with my patients in clinic that didn't enjoy coming in every other day and would prefer to do it from home but didn't have the one extra person they needed to actually make this happen for themselves. I've tried researching to see if anyone else has tried to accomplish this task with no luck on finding information on how to go about doing so. This would help me with time and focus on completing my degree plan, it wouldn't be as stressful for me or the patient and also allows the patient to have treatment in the comfort of their own home. If you have any information on this matter please feel free to share it. A link, advice or anything that would lead me in the right direction. I would greatly appreciate it. Thank you so very much in advance, - Gifted_Hands
  2. I will definitely keep that in mind from now on!!!
  3. I had an interview today with the DON at a St.Davids hospital here in Austin, Tx... which went great! I'm truly honored to have had the opportunity to be considered on the Ortho/Neuro floor as a PCT II (nights) but what am I to think about the interview that took place! I showed up 15 minutes ahead of time before the interview. First, the DON interviewing me asked if I brought a resume...no I didn't and since I didn't would this be a problem...what am I to think?!? He had to print it out himself off the online application I had submitted. Secondly, during the interview he'd asked me these 3 question... 1. Why do you want to work here at st.davids?! - I made it clear to him that I've researched the company and knowing the achievements that they have receive and the values and mission they hold I would basically be a great fit for st. Davids and would be someone that would have no problem meeting these expectations. 2. What type of work history do you have in this type of work environment? - I then let him know that I have had previous jobs that required a lot of physical work and very fast paced with a lot of adjusting to changes. I have also completed 100 clinical hours with my CNA program and also obtained my BLS provider certification currently obtaining my BSN which I should have within the next 2 years. (Side note)....one thing I forgot to mentions to him was I have experience with answering phone lines and making transfers. 3. Where do you see yourself in the future? - I responded by letting him know again that I will be obtaining my BSN within the next 2 years and I see myself working here at st. Davids indefinitely and then going back for my masters degree to become a CRNA at some point. (Side note)...one thing I forgot to let him know was that I'd like to work in the ER as in RN once I graduate. I also never really got the chance to express to him the type of employee I am because these questions never really gave me the opportunity to. I never got the chance to let him know about my soft skills, my transferable skills, and a few more of my hard skills.....so, what am I to think?! After the 3 questions he then proceeded to let me know that "after 6 months of employment here at St. Davids you could take advantage of the tuition reimbursement". This was something I already knew do to my extensive research of the company so my respond to this information was "oh, okay"with a smile... because that's definitely a good thing to know. After that he then handed me a business card and told me about a peer review process that would take place next....I'm not sure if this is in assumption of if someone was to give me a call...but then he said if I have not heard from anyone come Wednesday to give him a call about the peer review. He then asked if I had any questions...I then proceeded to ask him about the job description posted online and the devices they use that I wasn't so familiar with, he then answered the question and then asked me again if I had any other questions...I said to him that "I had a few but now I'm drawing a blank"...he then said if I remember feel free to call him but that I'd have the opportunity to ask all the questions to the fellow employees there during the peer review and they'd ask me questions as well! That was the interview. It seemed very short (maybe 10 minutes) and when i made it back to the parking garage I noticed on my watch that it was only 2 minutes after my scheduled time of the interview (got there at 8:45am and interview was set for 9am) ....so what am I to think?!? I am in high hopes to gain this experience because it would be great for my future after graduation!! Please let me know how you think this all went and if things are looking up because I'm not sure what to think at this point...
  4. Hey there lauren1449, I'm not quite at the point you're at, but I'm working on it (I have 3 more pre-reqs classes left and studying for my TEAS and HESI test). I just wanted to share with you something that an individual said to a group of nursing major students during a seminar at our school for nursing majors....she said "when you, are writing your essay to the school, Never say the word MEDICAL in it because this is NOT medical school". Good luck in the path that you choose. BTW I attend Texas State University. Much love and big hugs, Gifted_Hands
  5. I do attend ACC but have 5 more class left before I "enter" into the nursing program. All the best in your success this semester!
  6. That is something I would have loved to experience especially if it was something that not everyone was capable of visually seeing...I kind of wonder if there is a meaning behind not being able to see this glow?!? Hmmm, very interesting!!!
