  1. "Obama care? Senator Kennedy's big idea? Governor Romney's folly? What will it do Other than line the pockets of big insurance companies and force and already struggling middle class to fork over more money to the elite few, cause small business to close and hospitals hire only PRN workers and deteriorate health care itself at the bedside......no one is sure." -----possibly the best point i have heard about the ACA!!!
  2. Wow thank you so much for taking the time to type all that!!!! And I do like your first suggestion Lol. as for the ACA i am not against it. I'm just hearing so many different things contradict each other therefore have no clue what to think!!!! i myself have Juvenile Diabetes and am finally getting an insulin pump!!!! (Yaaayyyyyyyy!!!!!!) I was looking at the prices of supplies and died a bit inside. I am under my mom's insurance at the moment however im growing up and wont be on it forever! Lol But i was under the impression that there was a cap on the ACA????
  3. My friends was a 3.6 and got accepted into an accelerated BSN program in Texas. But she got a 95 overall on her HESI A2.
  4. Thank you so much for this honest to goodness response!!! It feels good knowing that there are nurses that really do love there job and don't just feel stuck in their position. So thank you very much for enlightening me on the realistic view. :)
  5. "This response, I hope, is not an indication of how you will react to nursing school's trials and tribulations. Please remember that when seeking helpful answers from people, it's generally best not to antagonize them instantly. As for your original question: While it clearly will not effect the profession, how it will affect the profession is up for debate, and has been discussed ad nauseum on these boards. You will find much "information by clicking around this website." As stated this comment was not meant to sound rude in any way. I am very sorry it came out like that. And I know God will help me through the trials and tribulations I will face in nursing school and as a nurse in general. I was feeling very discouraged while reading so many stories of how nursing is just terrible, i just want to make sure that the way I perceive nursing to be isn't entirely wrong.
  6. Sorry if this sounded "snippy" that was not the purpose of this comment however i do not see how it has a connotation, nor do i understand how it implies that I am not looking for objective information. Again sorry for it sounding rude, It is called Obamacare on the news and everyone I talk to calls it that so for the purpose of the question I used that name as well. If you can explain to me how it sounds connotative and how it implies what I'm actually looking for then I'd appreciate it. Please don't take this comment in any bad way, I don't want to sound ignorant in the future so constructively criticize.
  7. God is so good!!!!!!! Congratulations!!!! our story is so inspiring and such a good reminder to always put God in everything you do!!! :up:Thank you!!!!
  8. Thank you. You are right. I was just feeling discouraged. Thanks again for the advice!!!
  9. Well you knew what I was talking about didn't you? I'm not concerned with what it is called at the moment, I'm just curious about how its going to effect the profession.
  10. i am currently working on getting into a nursing program. I have been so darn excited until i started reading some posts about how bad nursing is and how Obama Care will destroy the entire health field. Is all this really true? I know Obama Care isn't going to help anything and will affect nursing but will it completely destroy it? Is there something i am missing??? Is the nursing profession really like high school with all the drama? Basically I want to know that there are nurses who LOVE it and are proud to be called a nurse. Or is everyone upset that they chose this path???
  11. This was so helpful!!!! I am transferring from a community college in Texas and was planning on going to University of Texas Nursing School in Houston but then decided to go to school with my sister in OK. I was a bit apprehensive due to UT of Houston's high ranking but seeing my new schools pass rate really just lifted my spirits so thank you!!!! :)
  12. My first test is on 9th! I am going to tutoring to prepare for it but I also got a Government test on the same day! a lot of studying as well. But we got this!
  13. I was in the same boat once and my mom had told me that everyone has a different experience with different teachers, the teacher I took had
  14. I go to Lone Star as well. Are you trying to get into their nursing program or a BSN program? If you are trying for theirs then I would suggest retaking the class because they go off a point system and I'm pretty sure they simply take the highest grade. They usually have information sessions where you can ask them questions like that or go to their advisers. Some really are not that great and will say anything to get the school more money but some can be really helpful. I am trying for UT Houston but i went with my friend to the info session for Lone Star's program and they gave a lot of good advice. Also I don't know what campus you are at but the lady who does the info sessions, her office is located in building B at the Montgomery location. When i had a question they just sent me there. Hope all this helps!
  15. In 2005 I was diagnosed with type 1 diabetes. Since I was only 11 years old I was obviously terrified. The doctors just ran their tests and got out. They where so fast paced and didn't bother to talk to me or comfort me. The nurses however where on the complete opposite side of the spectrum. They would sit in my room at night and talk to me for a good while and comfort me. One of the nurses had diabetes herself and she spent the most time with me. After I left the hospital I would go back every 3 months for a check up. The diabetic educators where the people I truly bonded with, the doctor was literally in my room for less than 2 minutes each time. I am no longer in pediatrics but still email my old educators from time to time. They are the reason I chose nursing. Not only will I help people but I will be able to bond with patients and I do wish to pursue the pediatrics path. Not only this but I have prayed and prayed and I truly believe that it is God's will not only mine.
