  1. OK I was a new employee at a facility and on the first day of the job, they send me in to cath this lady. She was extreeemly obese. Around 55o or more. So I walk in the room where she is laying on the bed with nothing on, not even a blanket except covering her feet. Her breasts have "slid" too the side and I am confused at how on earth she is what I think, laying there looking at me with her neck twisted and her behind up in the air. I inform her I need her to roll onto her back so that I may place the cath in her. She informs me she IS on her back. What I was seeing wasn't her big ol behind, it was her labia!!!! oh yuck! It actually took four 3 nurses to place a cath in her----one on each side to "hold" and one to place the cath in!!!! EEEEEEEWWWWWW!
  2. Can anyone help me out? Where does Hippa cover rights of sex offender infomation? Does it cover anything like this being that a REG sex offende is a criminal offense and is public record and not health related. Any help would be appreciated.
  3. I work in a small town psych center. Patients range in age from 18-up. MANY are just "grandma" type with a history of depression, bi-polor, etc. There is a REG SEX offender with a history of Sexual assault with a weapon, and sexual assault to someone who "couldnt consent". There is an elementary school within walking distance of this facility. There are also young high school girls under the age of 18 employed as cnas. There are also sexually active, young (under age 25) females who live in the facility. This Sex offender has had repeated violent outbursts towards staff also. (he has only been here for a month!) He is age 55 and totally capable of injuring someone due to his size of over 200lbs, and activity level of any "normal" person. IF you seen a young resident allowing herself to be alone with this man unknowing of his past, how would you handle the situation? Oh not to mention many times we are staffed with 2 cnas and one nurse to 60 patients! 911 is our security! (9-11, how ironic that is the # we use to keep us SAFE isn't it?)
