  1. Bottom Line: How well you do in nursing school has everything to do with how badly you want it, staying organized, and taking extra time to learn new things every day. I am in my 4th quarter of an accelerated ADN program and I have a 4.0. However, this is coming from a person who was always smart but played around in high school never taking it seriously...my GPA was terrible like a 2.8. Fast forward 8 years later... now I am 26 years old, this is my first time attending college but now I actually take it seriously. Prior to this I didn't even have any medical experience. However, I am putting all my focus now on my schoolwork and actually enjoy learning. However, I will not stress this enough... your social life needs to be put on the back burner, you need to stay SUPER organized, and do not procrastinate! How can you get a 4.0? Keep on top of your assignments and your grades so that there are no surprises. When your friends call you to go drinking till 2am, say no. Any questions that are asked on assignments...never just give the minimum...you will not be given 90s or 100s for one or two sentence "simple answers". Elaborate and think outside the box. And last but not least...do not start a nursing program until you are willing to commit. if your friends and family love you they will put up with all of the craziness until you graduate. your social life will come and go...but this is your future and you need to make it count.
