  1. Thank you everyone! I have been working as an LPN for almost a year now so I'm sure I have over 1000 hours experience. I am going to check with my local college and also check with the program in PA you suggested. Thanks again! I really appreciate it!!
  2. I currently work third shift but I hate sleeping during the day and this shift is getting harder to do as the days go by.. There may be a second shift position coming up soon.. should I take it? I love my job - that's certainly not an issue I am just not thrilled about third shift. I have heard mixed reviews about second shift - I don't have any kids so that's not an issue either. Any advice? Thanks!!
  3. I'm sure this has been asked a thousand times but here's a thousand and one How long does a bridge program take? I currently hold my LPN license in PA and quite frankly I don't really want to attend school for another 3+ years to get my RN.. I guess you could say LPN school really has me feeling burnt out. Any info/advice would be greatly appreciated. Thank you!!
  4. Aveeno lotion: stress relief.. smells amazing and works wonderfully :)
  5. I'm not sure. I never went on scores really.. I just did as many ?'s as I could handle. Practice the areas you're weakest but also make sure you do plenty of SATA.. I had a lot of those.. the best advice I got for those was to look at them like a T/F and decide if each answer given makes the statement true or false.. If it's false it's not the answer(s) you want to pick. I hope that helps!
  6. Get plenty of rest - I didn't do any questions the day before.. I took a day to just relax and calm down.. eat a good breakfast and take your time.. If you need a break - take one! Good luck!! Also bring something warm in case it's cold and if you have long hair bring a hair tie!! I would have been lost without both! Cold and hair in my face! Again good luck!! :)
  7. Walking would be an excellent idea.. I know exercise relieves stress but sometimes when I have a really bad day/night I just feel exhausted.. that and I always crave junk food. I think I'll invest in some good walking shoes & start making that a daily thing.
  8. After a stressful day/night at work how do you unwind?
  9. Again I think that's just nursing school.. In the beginning I was a ball of energy but the closer it got to being finished I had no energy at all. It took all I had just to get out of bed in the morning. Just try and remember how good you feel after your workout and try to push past the urge to be lazy. I know it's hard but it will help you gain energy. Try snacks that are high in protein too like almonds instead of chocolate or greasy foods. I just bought some mocha flavored almonds. You get your protein with a hint of chocolate flavor. Kill two birds with one stone :) Good luck. You can do it!!
  10. I gained weight in nursing school too.. I think it's just a normal thing honestly. You are less active, more stressed and that leads to eating more sugar.. that and I know everyone in my class always had goodies which didn't help. I went from 130 to 160.. I am now back down to 140 after graduating. It will come off once the stress of school is done & you become more active at your future job. Don't be so hard on yourself. Towards the end of school I would make note cards and use them to study while walking outside. The combo of the exercise and fresh air was nice. I hope this helps :)
  11. bruiised posted a topic in LPN to RN
I am a recently licensed LPN with a job I really enjoy. I am taking a little down time instead of jumping back into school for my RN.. LPN school was pretty intense (fast track program) and I just need some time to let my brain rest. I am wondering lately though.. should I go for my RN? I'm happy being an LPN but people keep saying "go for your RN" Thoughts? Thanks!
  12. https://allnurses.com/showthread.php?t=918238 Here is another thread that talks about it too.. this may help & I'm pretty sure you passed :)
  13. I got the exact same pop up though and I passed so..
  14. Check your state boards website. It will have the results before Pierson vue does..
  15. There are 2 different pop ups which is why you didn't get that sentence. Both pop ups mean you passed though. Congrats!
  16. If it takes you right to the cc screen.. you failed. If you get a pop up that says what you just said.. you passed
  17. Thank you everyone for the kind & encouraging words.. I love my job and I'm just going to have to learn not to be so hard on myself.. learning takes time and I'm just going to take it one day at a time :)
  18. I have only been a licensed LPN since November and a hospice nurse since late January. I work the 11-7 shift and I love my job but recently I just feel like maybe I shouldn't be a nurse. I am anxious a lot of the time that I'm here.. I'm not confident in any decisions I make.. I feel like I have no clue what I'm doing. We can always contact the RN on call but when I do I feel stupid.. I will give a medication and then I'll feel sick in my gut like maybe I should have given this instead.. am I over medicating? Am I under medicating? I care so much about my patients and what to do what's best for them but I feel like I'm failing no matter what I do... Anyone else ever go through this? Should I hang up nursing? Maybe I'm not cut out for this...
  19. Just try and study what you aren't doing well at and I did a lot of practice questions. I used Saunders to review. I did as many practice questions as I could. Just take your time, remember to breathe and if you need a break during the exam take one. 5 hours is a long time and it's worth it to take a break if you need. Trust your gut.. I have a hard time with that but your gut won't steer you wrong. Good luck and I hope this helps!
  20. So.. I took my exam today.. It shut off at 85 and I got the good pop up so I'm pretty sure I passed!! If you are in the same boat I was and you've failed don't give up!! You CAN pass!! Just wanted to share the good news!! ❤️❤️
  21. Thank you so much for the help!! :)
