Thank you so much for the responses! It makes me A LOT more confident in the profession I chose. I just felt that a lot of students were using this as a "stepping stone" for their RN. I, on the other hand, had chosen LPN as a profession. To see REAL LPNs work as an LPN is great! I'm looking forward to it. :)

I've decided to take my LPN course, and then finish and get my license. Then once I get my license ill work as an LPN and gain nursing experience while I bridge to the RN at my same school. A lot of my credits will transfer from LPN to RN. Atleast you will have nursing experience by the time you graduate with an RN. It'll be easier for you to land a job. :)

Hello LPNs/Future LPNs. Im getting reallllly bummed out. I got accepted into the LPN program for this July. I was stoked! :) my husband has been so supportive. But it's so crazy to see so much "bash" on LPNs and their knowledge. I've already had people say, "oh, it's just LPN school." Or "why not RN?" Or,"you're not going to find a job as an LPN." And,"LPNs are phasing out" talk. It's really discouraging as a LPN student. Especially since I'm soooo stoked for it. Why the hell do people have to rain on people's parades?!? BACK OFF!!! I would love some LPN support. :) I know LPNs have A LOT more going for them. It's comforting to hear stories about LPN pride.

Hello, Has anyone heard of any feedback regarding Everests RN program? Has anyone attended this school for RN in Henderson? Thanks!

A CT tech at a local hospital and an order comes through from the ER. The order is for a CT of the brain to R/O (rule out) CVA (cerebral vascular accident aka stroke). You go to the ER to bring the patient back to CT and the patient is asleep. You verify the patient identification all the meanwhile speaking to the patient and explaining what you are bringing them back for and a brief description of what you are going to do. You bring the patient back to CT and you are getting ready to transfer the patient over to the table and the patient wakes up in a frantic hustle screaming "NO! NO! NO! NO! NO!" repeatedly along with some other words that don't make any sense. She has a glazed over look in her eyes. You ask the patient "do you want the scan on your brain still?" She continues with the "NO!" repeatedly. You repeat yourself in an effort to ensure that the patient understands what she is saying, "Ma'am, so are you refusing the exam for the CT of your brain???" She repeats with the "NO!" You bring the patient back to the ER and tell the ER doctor on duty the situation. He goes over to the patient and tells her that we need to do the exam to see if she has a bleed in her head. He looks to you and says, "Go ahead and do the exam. I don't care if she keeps saying 'NO!'. Don't come back with her until you've done the exam" What do you do and how do you feel about it? Would/should the Tech continue with the Procedure?

I understand your reaction. I'm speaking of JUST a LPN, not a in-the-process-of-becoming-a-RN-LPN. Every time I speak to a LPN, they always say, "I'm currently working on my RN." I just want input from ones who are not bridging. I'm really excited to start. I hear the nurse world can be dog eat dog. Thanks for your input! :)

That's what I'm trying to figure out. You just said you never wanted to "better" yourself or further your education. Why? Because obviously you enjoy being an LPN. Your in no need to enhance your career. I want to get information from nurses in your situation. Because MANY, not all, LPNs that I had met, just feel as though their LPN license is a "stepping stone." I would just like insight from LPNs who are content with their career choice. And as for asking a teacher if they enjoy being a teacher, why not ask? Some may not wish to further their education, just like yourself. Hence the reason why im asking. As a Cosmetologist and Medical Assistant, I got plenty of questions such as, Do you like being a Hair Stylist? Why not become a platform artist? Weighing out differences. Humans ask questions for insight. That is all I'm doing. No harm, no foul. I am not trying to offend anyone. If you get defensive, I apologize for that. I'm a future LPN, so why would I criticize a position I am going for? It would be the same if I was asking a RN do you like being a RN? Maybe some do, others may not, and others may wish to further to NP. We all have our own reasons. I'm just seeing perspectives of LPNs who do not wish to further their education. I'm speaking of JUST an LPN, not an in-the-process-of-becoming-a-RN-LPN.
