  1. if all goes well with my classes, I plan to apply for fall :) im in the process of transfering over to edison completely (as soon as i finished this fall semester) I plan to attend the lee campus, but chose other campuses as a back up because either way, the drive will be worth it in the end!
  2. thanks so much! i got an unofficial because the only study guides they had was for the NCLEX exams and anatomy. The HESI book would be GREAT and very appreciated! The HESI books were soo expensive online! I will message you my address! thank you again for all of your advice!
  3. Im still in the process of getting my pre reqs finished up before next fall. I am curious as to what one of the best stethoscopes/cuffs are, some great study books/flash cards etc for nursing as well as biology and anatomy. Also any other recommended supplies that will be useful such as PDA'S and medical supplies other than the stethoscope. thanks in advance! I like to be prepared and I would like to purchase supplies a little at a time so it will be a little easier on the pockets instead of buying all at once :)
  4. I bought a study guide today called "the complete idiots guide to nursing entrance exams" which covers HESI a2 and many many other nursing entrance exams. it was $22 at books a million. I skimmed through and it seems like it will be good. It give you practice tests, tips to answer questions you may hesitate about, study tips and much more! just walk in to your local bookstore and im sure you will find many! Even online :)
  5. I will be taking my HESI entrance exam next summer or fall at Edison State college. I went to my local bookstore to see if they had the HESI admission exam study guide, which they did not have, so I got "the complete idiots guide to nursing entrance exams" if focuses on multiple types of exams, which includes HESI A2... my question is is HESI and HESI A2 the same, similiar or completely different? Also, has anybody used this book as a study guide? was is helpful? It has practice tests on multiple subjects. I have 2 babies under 2 so I thought it would be good to start studying WAY in advance to get the best possible score the first time. thank you!
  6. thank you both, I decided that I will stick with R.N and if all else fails, radiology. I know their are very different from each other, but they both have things I would enjoy to do. Of course r.n has much more opportunities... Though there are just a few areas in which i would want to work (maternity, pediatrics (office or hospital), possibly E.R, and OR.
  7. Im applying to 4 different schools, well they are all the same "School" but different campuses. so it should help, I wouldnt mind driving an hour away for the program! im just not familiar with the area so im not familiar with any of the schools yet. Theres a university but I would see that being MUCH harder to get into! I guess I will just see how well i do with the science courses! I took honors anatomy and honors biology in high school and its def not my strong suit! mainly because its "boring" or maybe i just had boring teachers. I do have a backup plan JUST incase i dont get accepted, that way i can work on another liscense (LPN or EMT certificate) while i wait to keep myself busy and/or get a decent job while i wait. thank you all for your advice !
  8. I am looking to start the nursing program by next summer at edison state college in fort myers, just one problem.. Im completely stuck between going for my R.N, EMT liscense or Radiological technology! All three sound fantastic to me! I just do not know which would suite me better :/ I have taken nursing classes in high school (towards a CNA liscense) as an elective before dropping out and I absolutely LOVED attending them. I got so excited when we would practice taking blood pressure and vital, and acting out being the nurse, EMT, doctor, or patient. from experience how hard are each of these programs to get into? would be awesome to hear some one who has gone to edison state as well... if not, thats cool too! BTW if i stick with the R.N. My goal is maternity/baby, pediatrics, or ER! Just some other stuff... I have completed one class that actually counts towards the pre-reqs for nursing (composition 1) I have a B at the moment, with my other classes which are not towards the nursing program I have a 3.0 which of course could improve before I apply, I feel like thats way to low of a GPA for nursing :/ SO hard to find extra study time with a one 19 month old and a 7 months old! I get through it though!:)
  9. Lol, you def. sound like me.. switching majors and going RIGHT back to nursing. there has to be a reason you go back to the same thing right? so stick with it! maybe start at an LPN level (better than CNA pay) I personally kept swapping between R.N, EMT, radiography, funeral arts and CSI (i dont even know why the last one was on the list honestly) I guess i get over curious. Im not squeamish with blood or wounds or anything, its actually more so have to deal with fecal matter.. lol. ANYWAYS, your telling your self that you truly want to do nursing because your going back to that each time. take stepping stones if you have too! I absolutely loved the medical classes I took in high school thats when I truely wanted to become a nurse, i found it fun and got so excited to take blood pressure haha. Do what you think you will enjoy most! BTW (I am more of an english person too) always hated science classes, though I did not mind anatomy and learning about diseases and I suck with math. Teach your self to love them anyway!
  10. Thank you both! The school I will be applying for does not have a wait list, you simply just re-apply each enrollment term, bleh. So I am crossing my fingers I get in withing a year or two!
  11. How many attempts/years/tries did it take you to finally get into an R.N program? Will be attending edison state college this fall or spring, so im just curious since i dont have many prereqs to do!
  12. How is the EMT stuff bigsick_littlesick? I love the idea of having a back up in case i cant make it into Nursing :)
  13. My aunt actually got her RN liscense last year, shes in her mid 40's i do believe! never too old to have a career, especially if you enjoy it! Im 19 will be 20 in oct. (but i have been out of school since I was 16 almost 17) I completely understand how you feel about classmates graduating, but also look at all of those kids you went to school with that are not even thinking about college and live with their parents? who cares what others think!
  14. No i havnt taken a biology class yet, i didnt see it on the course catalog for the nursing program! its so different how they have it set up! im doing my classes online, at my current school i can take anatomy and it does not require anything beside comp for a pre req. So i will most likely take that class at this school before transferring!
