I took my NRP and a workshop/small course in breastfeeding challenges in attempts to get my foot in the door plus have updated and changed my resume and cover letter several times by self editing and having a bunch of friends review and edit it as well.

I think she means keep it simple. Yes new grads can start IVs and change O2 rates but on the exam you need to almost always over simplify your thinking and keep it to basics. Generally the answer is check your ABC's and notify the doctor. Although usually you are doing 10 things at once in real life, the CNA usually wants the first technical thing you would do.

I agree, there seems to be too much fixation on what to sign. This is supposed to be a helpful forum but it seems like everyone just wants to nit pick away at what everyone else says. We should be supporting each other not trying to prove previous posters wrong. Anyway, I don't know what the rule is as I'm an RN but it makes sense that you could be supervised by an RN. For instance, if you were working a night you might be the only LPN working. Plus I have seen LPN students paired with RN preceptor during their final practicum. As long as you stay within your scope it should be ok. You've already contacted the college so hopefully they will give you the answer you are looking for and not dwell as what to sign as. Let us know what the response is :)

Alberta Health Services won't hire any external candidates at the moment. I'm from Ontario, worked for a year to get experience and moved out here last year but that was when there were lots of jobs due to the predicted loses of nurses to SHC. Now we still need nurses but don't have the budget. I recommend working in Ontario for at least a year to get some experience and keep informed about the situation in BC and AB. I know that's not what you want to hear but you'll get your shot when things turn around again.

Don't forget according to UNA contract you get 3 paid educational days a year. I work full-time and find this very helpful in order to get paid days off
