  1. Hey CaliGirl! I struggled with the decision, but ultimately I decided to give up my spot I LOVE College of Marin and it was my #1 choice, but I decided to pursue another path than nursing. Kind of crazy after doing all the pre-reqs but I think getting in to school made me realize what a big life change it would be. I hope someone who has wanted to be a nurse their entire life gets my spot! Because I'm really rather sad about giving it up. Did you hear from your #1 choice? Either way, you will end up in a great program and it will all work out how it is supposed to. Best of luck! And thanks for all your replies on this site - it really helped my sanity through the taxing process of waiting!
  2. I got 65. I called -------------------- last month to verify and she said that I as #65. You might want to call and check - that seems very strange that we would have the same #.
  3. I did get accepted! CaliGirl, did you decide whether or not you are going to accept COM?
  4. Thanks CaliGirl! I took the TEAS last November so I submitted my scores to COM. I'm glad I don't have to take them because the testing date my letter stated is May 11th and I will be out of town that weekend. Best of luck on the TEAS. You just have to pass, right? It is not too bad. I reviewed the ATI recommended study manual and got an advanced score. Taking the practice tests helped a lot.
  5. Congratulations to everyone who got accepted! Thank you all for posting your status updates and keeping the communication going. In these past couple weeks, I've found peace by knowing I wasn't alone in this loooong wait. It helped knowing how on edge everyone else was, too. I didn't get in to SFSU, but that's okay. I'm not even sure I want to do nursing at this point! Not because I didn't get in, but because I've been thinking of some other alternatives just in case and it may work out better for me going in a different direction. To those of you who didn't get in but are hellbent on being a nurse, stick with it!! Timing is everything, and it will work out for you if you don't give up. CA is a tough school and job market, so if you can make it here, you can make it anywhere :)
  6. I'm a nursing school hopeful and after reading this thread, I'm not as excited at the prospect of nursing! I am just wondering if any of you have done or considered the outpatient setting? It seems the hours are better and you might not feel as much like a servant. Also, smaller clinics may have less politics (or maybe more?). Just wondering what your thoughts are on that. Also, I am between nursing and doing some sort of therapy, like MFT. Do you think both inevitably burn you out? Thanks for any insight! I really value nurse's honest opinions.
  7. Yeah, I'm trying to stay positive, too. 65 isn't terrible - it could be worse. We have a chance! You have to figure that some folks will be accepted elsewhere and some will drop out for other reasons. I heard that SFSU that they went up pretty high last year in their wait list. Since all the schools are impacted, people are applying to a lot of places, so hopefully that opens things up a bit. I applied to CCSF, SFSU, and COM. CCSF posted their lottery results in early March and I was in the 200s. I heard SFSU sent out letters to wait-listed folks, so I'm guessing they also sent their letters of acceptance. I haven't heard anything yet. Good luck, Caligirl, on getting into SRJC! I know we will all land where we should.
  8. I also haven't heard anything. Do any of you wait-listed folks mind sending your stats (GPA, TEAS, etc)? I'm curious to know if I have a prayer or not.
  9. OK, so I decided to do some deep breathing and read my letter completely. Anyone whose number is under 100 is invited to sit for the TEAS test. This doesn't mean you are going to be accepted, unless your number is 36 or under and you have already taken the TEAS. Of course, the lower your number, the better chance you have since you will probably do well on the TEAS and get in. I'm still confused, though, as to why jprevelli and I received the same number?? The waiting continues... *sigh*
  10. Congrats, CaliGirl4526! What was your number? JPrevelli - I'm confused because in the letter I received, I also got 65/157! But I was invited to take the TEAS so I don't know what it means. I think they only take 37...
  11. I didn't get an email - should I be worried?
  12. I also applied and wondering if I haven't heard yet because I didn't get chosen or because they haven't sent out any letters to anyone. Will we hear via email? Please post if you hear anything! And good luck :)
